2024 U.S. Open Cup
The 2024 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup was the 109th edition of the U.S. Open Cup, the knockout domestic cup competition of American soccer. Houston Dynamo FC were the defending champions, but were eliminated in the round of 32 by Detroit City FC. Los Angeles FC won their first U.S. Open Cup title after defeating Sporting Kansas City 3–1 after Overtime (sports)#Association football, extra time in the 2024 U.S. Open Cup final, final, held at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles on September 25. Houston Dynamo Football Club is an American professional Association football, soccer club based in Houston. The club competes in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Western Conference (MLS), Western Conference. Established on December 15, 2005, the club was founded after their former owners relocated the San Jose Earthquakes' players and staff to Houston following the 2005 Major League Soccer season, 2005 season. For their first six seasons in Houston, the Dynamo played at Robertson Stadium on the campus of the University of Houston.
