2024 Racquetball World Championships – Women's Doubles
ThInternational Racquetball Federation's22nd Racquetball World Championships were held in San Antonio, Texas, USA from August 24–31, 2024. This was the first time Worlds was in the USA since 1996, when it was held in Phoenix, Arizona. The 2024 World Championships used a best of five games match format with each game to 11 points, win by 2, with rally scoring. Mexicans Alexandra Herrera and Montserrat Mejia won Women's Doubles for the first time. They were in the final in 2018, but lost to Bolivians Valeria Centellas and Yasmine Sabja. Natalia Mendez (born January 28, 1997) is a Bolivian people, Bolivian-born Argentine racquetball player. She is the current Racquetball at the 2018 South American Games, South American Champion in Women's Doubles and the current Pan American Racquetball Championships, Pan American Champion in Women's Doubles, winning that title with Valeria Centellas. Carla Muñoz
Carla Muñoz Montesinos (born February 12, 1992) is a Chilean professional racquetball player. She has won multiple medals, including the three consecutive gold medals in the USA Racquetball National Intercollegiate Championships in 2016, 2017, and 2018. In 2014, Munoz was awarded Best Racquetball Player of the Year by the Chilean Journalist Association. She plays on the Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour and has been ranked as high as 8th. Early life Muñoz was born in Concepción, Chile, the daughter of Glenda Montesinos and Fernando Muñoz. She was raised in the capital city of Santiago along with two sisters and one brother, and was the youngest child. The World Racquetball Championships is the top international racquetball competition organized by the International Racquetball Federation (IRF). History The first event was held in 1981 as part of the 1981 World Games. The second World Championships were in 1984, and they have been a biannual event since then with the exception of the COVID-19 pandemic period, which delayed the 2020 event by one year. Worlds have been held in 13 countries across four continents: North and South America as well as Asia and Europe. Frédérique T. Lambert (born March 27, 1992) is a Canadian racquetball player. Lambert is the current Canadian Champion in Women's Singles and Women's Doubles, and has won eleven Canadian Championships: six in Women's Singles and five in Women's Doubles. She has been a member of the Canadian National Team since 2008, and has won several medals in international competitions, including a silver medal in Mixed Doubles at the 2022 World Championships.
