2024 Milwaukee Brewers Season
The 2024 Milwaukee Brewers season was the 55th season for the Brewers in Milwaukee, their 27th in the National League, and their 56th overall. They entered the season as the defending National League Central Division champions. On September 18, the Brewers clinched the National League Central division title for the second consecutive season as well as the first team of this baseball season to clinch a postseason berth when the Chicago Cubs lost to the Oakland Athletics. It was their third divisional title in four seasons. They lost to the New York Mets in the 2024 National League Wild Card Series in three games. It was the team's last season before the death of longtime broadcaster Bob Uecker. National League Central
The National League Central is one of Major League Baseball's six divisions. This division was created in 1994, by moving two teams from the National League West (the Cincinnati Reds and the Houston Astros) and three teams from the National League East (the Chicago Cubs, the Pittsburgh Pirates, and the St. Louis Cardinals). When the division was created in 1994, the Pirates were originally supposed to stay in the East while the Atlanta Braves were to be moved to the Central from the West. However, the Braves, wanting to form a natural rivalry with the expansion Florida Marlins, requested to remain in the East. Despite the Marlins offering to go to the Central, the Pirates instead gave up their spot in the East to the Braves. The Milwaukee Brewers Radio Network (branded as the Brewers Radio Network, with a "presented by" sponsorship by American Family Insurance) is a 34-station radio network in Wisconsin and Michigan that broadcasts baseball games and related programming for the Milwaukee Brewers of Major League Baseball, and is operated in lieu of the Brewers by Good Karma Brands. The network's flagship is WTMJ/620 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, which was purchased by Good Karma Brands in 2018. WTMJ served as the flagship station for the network for all but three years of the Brewers' existence (the exceptions being WEMP in 1970 and WISN in 1981 and 1982). Andrew Gregory Chafin (born June 17, 1990), nicknamed "Big Country" and "the Sheriff", is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Washington Nationals of Major League Baseball (MLB). Colin David Rea (born July 1, 1990) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Chicago Cubs of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the San Diego Padres, Miami Marlins, Milwaukee Brewers, and in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) for the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks. The 2024 season was the 124th season for the Oakland Athletics franchise, and the 57th in Oakland.
