The 2024 Miami Open was a professional hardcourt tennis tournament played from March 19 to March 31, 2024, on the grounds of Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. It was the 39th edition of the combined men's and women's event and was classified as an ATP Masters 1000 event on the 2024 ATP Tour and a WTA 1000 event on the 2024 WTA Tour. Daniil Medvedev and Petra Kvitová were the defending champions in the men's and women's singles draw, respectively. However, Kvitová did not enter the tournament due to pregnancy. It is a square number, the smallest semiprime and composite number, and is considered unlucky in many East Asian cultures. WTA Premier tournaments was a category of tennis tournaments in the Women's Tennis Association, WTA Tour, implemented from the reorganization of the schedule in 2009 until 2020. Erin Hope Routliffe (born 11 April 1995) is a New Zealand professional tennis player who previously represented Canada. She became world No. 1 in doubles on 15 July 2024. Austin Krajicek ( ; born June 16, 1990) is an American professional tennis player. He has been ranked as high as world No. 1 in doubles by the ATP in June 2023. He attained a career-high singles ranking of world No. 94 in October 2015. A former player for Texas A&M University, Krajicek won the national doubles title at the 2011 NCAA Division I Tennis Championships, the first in the program's history.
