2024 Ghanaian General Election
General elections will be held in Ghana on 7 December 2024 to elect the president and members of Parliament. Incumbent President Nana Akufo-Addo is term-limited and thus ineligible to run again. Electoral system The President of Ghana is elected using the two-round system, whilst the 275 members of Parliament are elected in single-member constituencies using first-past-the-post voting. Eligible voters must be Ghanaian citizens who are at least 18 years old, although those declared insane are disenfranchised. Parliamentary candidates must be Ghanaian citizens at least 21 years old, and either be resident in their constituency or have lived there for at least five of the ten years prior to the election. Mahamudu Bawumia
Mahamudu Bawumia (born 7 October 1963) is a Ghanaian economist and former central banker who serves as the 5th Vice President of Ghana in the 4th Ghanaian Republic. He assumed office on 7 January 2017 as Vice President of Ghana. Bawumia was a Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana until his nomination as the vice presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2008, standing alongside presidential candidate Nana Akufo-Addo. He also ran as the NPP vice-presidential candidate in the 2012 general elections and was the lead witness for the petitioners in the 2012/2013 Presidential Election Petition which challenged the declaration of John Mahama as winner of the election. Kofi Konadu Apraku is a Ghanaian politician and economist and a member of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Parliament of the 4th Republic of Ghana. He is a member of the New Patriotic Party. Joe Ghartey (born 15 June 1961, in Accra) is a Ghanaian lawyer, academic and politician. Boakye Kyeremateng Agyarko (1956) is a Ghanaian economist, politician and a former banker. He was the vice president of the Bank of New York. He was the former Minister for Energy in Ghana. Early life and education Agyarko was born in 1956, at Kumasi in the Ashanti Region to Kwasi Agyarko. His father was a merchant and United Party activist from Jamase in the Ashanti Region and his mother was Jane Ladze Padi from Krobo Odumase in the Eastern Region. Kwabena Agyei Agyapong (born 6 March 1962) is Ghanaian civil engineer and politician. Early life Agyapong was born on 6 March 1962, in Kumasi, Capital of the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
