2024 Categoría Primera B Season
The 2024 Categoría Primera B season (officially known as the 2024 Torneo BetPlay Dimayor season for sponsorship reasons) was the 35th season of the Categoría Primera B since its founding as Colombia's second division football league. The season began on 2 February and ended on 14 December 2024. Unión Magdalena were the champions, winning their second Primera B title and promoting to Categoría Primera A after defeating Llaneros on penalties in the season's grand final following a 1–1 draw on aggregate. Llaneros also promoted at the end of the season, after ending the season as runners-up and also topping the season's aggregate table. Teams 16 teams took part in the season. The previous season's champions Patriotas and runners-up Fortaleza were promoted to Primera A for the 2024 season, being replaced in Primera B for this season by Unión Magdalena and Atlético Huila, who were relegated from Primera A at the end of the 2023 season after finishing in the bottom two places o ... Categoría Primera B
Categoría Primera B, commonly referred to as Torneo BetPlay Dimayor due to Sponsor (commercial), sponsorship by online betting company BetPlay, is the second-division association football, football league in Colombia. The tournament was inaugurated on 29 January 1991. Format DIMAYOR has applied a new format from 2015 onwards because of the expansion to 20 teams in the Primera A tournament. The league will no longer have Apertura and Finalización seasons but rather a yearlong tournament with home and away games. The first phase of the tournament is everyone against everyone home and away games. The second is a two-groups phase with the 8 top teams from the season who play each other to determine the winners of each group. The winners of the two groups are both promoted to the Primera A and play the final in home and away games to determine the champion of the season. The 2023 Categoría Primera A season (officially known as the 2023 Liga BetPlay Dimayor season for sponsorship purposes) was the 76th season of the Categoría Primera A, Colombia's top-flight football league. The season began on 24 January and ended on 13 December 2023. Two tournaments (Apertura and Finalización) were played in the season, each one of them being an independent championship. In the Torneo Apertura, Millonarios won their sixteenth league title after defeating Atlético Nacional 3–2 on penalty kicks in the finals after a 1–1 draw on aggregate, whilst Junior won their tenth league title in the Torneo Finalización, beating Independiente Medellín 5–3 on penalty kicks in the finals after tying 4–4 on aggregate. Atlético Huila is a professional Colombian association football, football team based in Neiva, that currently plays in the Categoría Primera B. The club was founded in 1990, making it one of the youngest professional football clubs in Colombia.
