2024 CPL–U Sports Draft
The 2024 CPL–U Sports Draft was the sixth annual CPL–U Sports Draft. Canadian Premier League (CPL) teams selected 16 eligible U Sports soccer players to be invited to their respective preseason camps with the opportunity to earn development contracts for the 2024 Canadian Premier League season. Format Players could be selected if they had one to four years of U Sports eligibility remaining, were in good academic standing, were planning to return to school the following year, and completed the CPL's draft declaration form by December 5, 2023. On December 6, the CPL released the list of 203 athletes who declared for the draft. Players who were selected can sign a full professional contract or a U Sports development contract, which allows them to return to university for the following season, without losing their eligibility. Luke Norman (soccer)
Luke Thomas Norman (born 16 December 1971) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Melbourne in the Australian Football League (AFL). Norman was originally from Wangaratta and was selected by Melbourne with pick 68 in the 1994 National Draft. A defender, he made nine appearances in the 1995 AFL season and another seven in the 1996 season. In 2004, Norman was appointed captain of West Adelaide in the South Australian National Football League and won their best and fairest award that year. He also captained the club in 2005. He coached the Sturt reserves to a premiership in 2008 and took over as senior coach the following season. League1 Ontario (L1ON) is a semi-professional men's soccer league in Ontario, Canada. The league is sanctioned by the Canadian Soccer Association and the Ontario Soccer Association. Vaughan Azzurri is a Canadian semi-professional soccer team based in Vaughan, Ontario, that currently competes in the League1 Ontario men's and women's divisions. The semi-professional team was founded in 2014 by the Vaughan Soccer Club, which is a youth soccer club as part of their High Performance Program. York Lions
The York Lions is the official name for the athletic varsity teams that represent York University in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The university's varsity teams compete in the Ontario University Athletics conference of U Sports and, where applicable, in the east division. The Lion's logo features a red lion from the school's logo with the university's colours, red and white. York's former teams were known as the York Yeomen and York Yeowomen, but changed their name to the gender-neutral Lions in 2003. Christian Zeppieri
Christian Zeppieri (born May 4, 2003) is a Canadian professional soccer player for York United FC and also plays in U Sports for the York Lions. Early life Zeppieri played youth soccer with Vaughan Azzurri and the Toronto FC Academy and also spent a year playing club soccer in Italy. University career In 2023, Zeppieri began attending York University, where he played for the men's soccer team. In the first game of the 2023 season on September 1, he scored the tying goal via a penalty kick in a 1-1 draw against the Laurier Golden Hawks. The Carleton Ravens are the athletic teams that represent Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario. The most notable sports team for Carleton is the men's basketball team. In men's basketball, the Ravens have won 16 of the last 19 national men's championships, which is more than any top division college in Canada or the United States.
