2024 Bolivian Primera División Season
The 2024 Bolivian Primera División season was the 47th season of the División Profesional del Fútbol Boliviano, Bolivia's top-flight football league and the seventh season under División de Fútbol Profesional management. The season began on 16 February and ended on 22 December 2024. Bolívar won their thirty-first league title in this season, after winning the Torneo Clausura and defeating the Torneo Apertura winners San Antonio Bulo Bulo 2–0 in the championship final. The Strongest were the defending champions. Format The competition format was confirmed at the session of the División Profesional's Council held on 10 January 2024, in which it was decided that two tournaments (Apertura and Clausura) would be played in the season. Bolivian Primera División
The División de Fútbol Profesional is the top-flight professional football league in Bolivia. In 2017 it replaced the "Liga de Fútbol Profesional Boliviano" (; ). Since 1950, a total of 16 clubs have been crowned champions of the Bolivian football league system. The current champions are Bolívar, which won the title in the 2024 tournament. Bolívar is also the most successful club in the league, with 31 titles to date. Oriente Petrolero
Club Deportivo Oriente Petrolero () is a Bolivian football club based in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia. They play at the 38,000-capacity Estadio Tahuichi Aguilera. Oriente have been Bolivian champions five times, Copa Aerosur winners two times. They have also been successful in South America, by being the second Bolivian team to make the quarter-finals in Copa Libertadores. The club had their first major success in 1971, when they won the league championship. Club Deportivo Guabirá is a Bolivian professional football club from Montero, Santa Cruz, that currently plays in the Bolivian Primera División. Their home ground is the Estadio Gilberto Parada, which has a capacity of 13,000 spectators. Although the team has always been based in Montero, they played in Santa Cruz de la Sierra until 1999 when their stadium was finally brought up to first division standards. UNITEL (UNIVERSAL DE TELEVISIÓN) is a Bolivian commercial television network headquartered in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, La Paz and Cochabamba, Bolivia. It was founded in 1987 in Santa Cruz de la Sierra as Teleoriente, which in 1997 created the current network and bought two Telesistema Boliviano stations. The old 2nd tier in the Bolivian Football pyramid consists of 9 regional leagues (one for each department), the number of participants varies depending on the department, It usually has between 8 and 12 teams. Both winner and runner-up of each league compete in the Copa Simón Bolívar, with the winner of such tournament gaining promotion to the 1st Division, and the runner-up playing a play-off match with the 11th placed team in the 1st Division.
