2024–25 Women's Floorball Champions Cup
The 2024–25 Women's Floorball Champions Cup was the 30th edition of the Champions Cup (floorball), premier competition for floorball clubs and the second in a format for league and cup winners. Pixbo IBK won its second title by defeating two-time reigning champions Team Thorengruppen, Thorengruppen IBK. Pixbo won also in the 2024–25 Men's Floorball Champions Cup, men's tournament, becoming the first club to win both titles in the same year. Format The league champions and cup winners from four countries take part. If the same team wins the league and the cup in their country, the second-place team in the league also takes part. For quarterfinals the eight teams are divided into two conferences based on their geographical location. Floorball
Floorball (also known by other names) is a sport played with five players and a goalkeeper in each team. It is played indoors with sticks and a hollow plastic ball with holes. Matches are played in three periods. The sport of bandy also played a role in the game's development. The game was invented in Sweden in the late 1960s. The basic rules were established in 1979 when the first floorball club in the world, Sala IBK, from Sala, was founded in Sweden. Official rules for matches were first written down in 1981. The sport is organized internationally by the International Floorball Federation (IFF). As of 2019, there were about 377,000 registered floorball players worldwide, up from around 300,000 in 2014. Swedish Super League (SSL, ; formerly named ''Elitserien'') is the highest league in the league system of Swedish women's floorball and comprises the top 14 Sweden, Swedish floorball teams. Ideapark is a shopping mall in Lempäälä, Finland. It is the largest shopping centre in Finland. The mall was built on a greenfield site alongside the Helsinki–Tampere Highway ( E12) approximately twelve kilometres south of Tampere, the capital of the Pirkanmaa region, and Tampere Airport in Pirkkala is about a 20-minute drive from Ideapark. The final of a competition is the match or round in which the winner of the entire event is decided. A single-elimination knockout, or sudden-death tournament is a type of elimination tournament where the loser of a match-up is immediately eliminated from the tournament.
