2024–25 Wagner Seahawks Men's Basketball Team
The 2024–25 Wagner Seahawks men's basketball team represented Wagner College during the 2024–25 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Seahawks, led by third-year head coach Donald Copeland, played their home games at the Spiro Sports Center in Staten Island, New York as members of the Northeast Conference (NEC). They finished the season 14–16, 6–10 in NEC play, to finish in seventh place. Previous season The Seahawks finished the 2023–24 season 17–16, 7–9 in NEC play, to finish in sixth place. They defeated Sacred Heart, Central Connecticut and Merrimack to win the NEC tournament championship, earning their first NCAA tournament appearance since 2003, and, in turn, earning the NEC's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Donald Copeland
Donald Copeland (born February 11, 1984) is an American former basketball player and current coach (basketball), coach. He is the current head coach of the Wagner Seahawks men's basketball team. Playing career Copeland played basketball under Bob Hurley at St. Anthony High School (New Jersey), St. Anthony High School where he helped lead the team to two state titles, while also earning all-state honors in New Jersey. He'd play collegiately at Seton Hall Pirates men's basketball, Seton Hall under Louis Orr, and was named a Second Team All-Big East Conference (1979–2013), Big East selection in his senior season. He was voted Seton Hall’s Senior Male Athlete of the Year. After graduation, Copeland would play professionally for nine seasons across Europe and in Puerto Rico. 2024 Northeast Conference Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2024 Northeast Conference Men's Basketball Tournament was the postseason men's basketball tournament for the Northeast Conference for the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The tournament took place on three dates between March 6 and 12, 2024, and all tournament games were played in the home arenas of the higher-seeded school. The winner, Wagner, received the conference's automatic bid to the 2024 NCAA tournament. Merrimack was the defending champion. The Saint Joseph's Hawks men's basketball team represents Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The First Four is a play-in round of the NCAA Division I men's and women's basketball tournaments. It consists of two games contested between the four lowest-ranked teams in the field (usually the four lowest-ranked conference champions), and two games contested between the four lowest-seeded "at-large" teams in the field, which determine the last four teams to qualify for the 64-team bracket that plays the first round.
