2023–24 UIC Flames Men's Basketball Team
The 2023–24 UIC Flames men's basketball team represented the University of Illinois Chicago in the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Flames, led by fourth-year head coach Luke Yaklich, played their home games at Credit Union 1 Arena in Chicago, Chicago, Illinois as members of the Missouri Valley Conference. The team finished the season 12–21, 4–16 in MVC play to finish in 11th place. They defeated 2023–24 Southern Illinois Salukis men's basketball team, Southern Illinois in the opening round of the 2024 Missouri Valley Conference men's basketball tournament, MVC tournament before losing to 2023–24 Bradley Braves men's basketball team, Bradley. On March 10, 2024, the school fired head coach Luke Yaklich. On April 1, the school named Stanford Cardinal men's basketball, Stanford assistant coach Rob Ehsan the team's new head coach. Luke Yaklich
Luke Yaklich (born May 8, 1976) is an American college basketball coach and former men's basketball coach for the UIC Flames men's basketball, UIC Flames. Early life and education Yaklich is a native of LaSalle, Illinois. He graduated from LaSalle-Peru High School in 1994 after competing on the basketball team. Yaklich earned a Bachelor of Science from Illinois State University in 1998. He served as a student manager for the basketball team. He received his Master of Education from Olivet Nazarene University in 2004 and Master of Education Administration from Olivet Nazarene in 2009. Coaching career Yaklich began his coaching career at his high school alma mater in 1999, serving for a season as the head girls coach. In 2000, he became the boys' basketball coach at Sterling High School (Illinois), Sterling High School, serving until 2003. Yaklich subsequently became the boys basketball coach at LaSalle-Peru. The 2022–23 Colorado State Rams men's basketball team represented Colorado State University during the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season.
