2023–24 Sporting CP Season
The 2023–24 season was the 118th season in the history of Sporting CP and their 90th consecutive season in the top flight of Portuguese football. In addition to the domestic league, Sporting participated in this season's editions of the Taça de Portugal, Taça da Liga and UEFA Europa League. On 5 May, Sporting were confirmed as league champions with two matches to spare following Benfica's 2–0 away defeat to Famalicão, clinching the club's 20th league title and first since the 2020–21 season. In this league season, Sporting set several club records: Most points in a season (90 points), most wins in a season (29 wins) and for the first time in the club's history, Sporting finished with a 100% win record for all home matches (17 wins out of 17). Francisco Trincão
Francisco António Machado Mota de Castro Trincão (; born 29 December 1999) is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays as a winger for Primeira Liga club Sporting CP and the Portugal national team. He started his career with Braga B, making his debut with the first team in 2018 and winning the 2019–20 Taça da Liga in his second season with the club. In January 2020, he signed with Barcelona for a reported €31 million fee, with the deal made effective in July. He then spent two years on loan, at Wolverhampton Wanderers and Sporting CP, joining the latter permanently in April 2023. Luís Carlos Novo Neto (; born 26 May 1988) is a Portuguese former professional footballer who played as a centre-back. Club career Born in Póvoa de Varzim, Porto District, Neto joined his hometown club Varzim SC's youth ranks at the age of 10. Franco Israel Wibmer (born 22 April 2000) is a Uruguayan professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Primeira Liga club Sporting CP and the Uruguay national team. Marcus Edwards (born 3 December 1998) is an English professional footballer who plays as a winger or attacking midfielder for club Burnley. Sebastián Coates Nion (; born 7 October 1990) is a Uruguayan professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Uruguayan club Nacional.
