2023–24 SWHL A Season
The 2022–23 Swiss League season was the 37th season of the Swiss Women's League A. Teams Winning the SWHL-B championship, the HC Fribourg-Gottéron Ladies is promoted to SWHL-A The major Swiss hockey clubs are showing more and more interest in women's hockey. The EV Zug created a women's team with an impressive budget of 1.2 million CHF. The League authorizes them to take part in the SWHL-B championship. In response, SC Bern took EV Bomo Thun under its wing. SC Bern Frauen will now play at the PostFinance Arena. The HC Davos also agrees with the HC Thurgau to move its team from the Indians to the Eisstadion Davos, under the name HC Davos Ladies. Regular season The regular season started on 16 September 2023 and ended on 25 February 2024. The Women's League, also known as the PostFinance Women's League (PFWL) for sponsorship reasons, is the premier ice hockey league in the Swiss Women's Hockey League (SWHL) system. The league was founded in 1986 as the , abbreviated LKA, and was also officially known as the in French and the in Italian, both abbreviated as LNA. Nuova Valascia
The NuoValascia, or Gottardo Arena is an ice hockey arena in Ambrì, Ticino, Switzerland. It is located only a few feet away from the former Valascia. The inauguration took place on September 11, 2021. The arena serves as the home for HC Ambrì-Piotta of the National League (NL) and seats up to 6,775 spectators for hockey games. Background HC Ambrì-Piotta held the groundbreaking ceremony in December 2018 and construction officially began in April 2019, 60 years after the former Valascia opened. Construction for the arena had been postponed for two consecutive years as plans were to start in early 2017. The SIHF had been rushing Ambri-Piotta to begin building a new arena to let them compete in the National League as the old arena no longer met security regulations and was located in a potential avalanche path. Angela Frautschi
Angela Frautschi (born 5 June 1987) is a Swiss former ice hockey player. She was a member of the Switzerland women's national ice hockey team. She played in the 2006, 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympics. She also competed for ZSC Lions Zurich in the Leistungsklasse A (the top women's ice hockey league in Switzerland). In 2014 Frautschi accompanied the Swiss women's Ice Hockey Team to Sochi for the Winter Olympics. Cornèr Arena is an arena in Porza, Switzerland, near the city of Lugano. It is used primarily for ice hockey and is the home arena of Hockey Club Lugano and HC Porza. Langenthal is a town and a Municipalities of Switzerland, municipality in the district of Oberaargau (administrative district), Oberaargau in the canton of Bern in Switzerland. BCF Arena
BCF Arena (formerly Patinoire Saint-Léonard) is an indoor sporting arena in Fribourg, Switzerland. Built in 1983 and then completely rebuilt from 2018 to 2020, the capacity of the arena is 9,262 spectators. It is the home arena of ice hockey team HC Fribourg-Gottéron of the National League. Major renovations began in the summer of 2018 to increase the arena's capacity from 6,500 to 8,934 and were completed two years later in the summer of 2020.
