2023–24 Primera División De El Salvador
The 2023–24 Primera División de El Salvador, also known as the Liga Pepsi, is the 25th season and 48th and 49th Primera División tournament, El Salvador's top football division, since its establishment of an Apertura and Clausura format. FAS are the defending champions of the Apertura tournament. There was no Clausura champion as the season was cancelled due to Cuscatlan Tragedy. The league will consist of 12 teams. There will be two seasons conducted under identical rules, with each team playing a home and away game against the other clubs for a total of 22 games per tournament. At the end of each half-season tournament, the top six teams in that tournament's regular season standings will take part in the playoffs. The champions of Apertura and Clausura will qualify for the CONCACAF Central American Cup, the third team to qualify is the team with better aggregate record. The Primera División de Fútbol Profesional de El Salvador (First Division of Professional Football of El Salvador), more commonly known as La Liga Mayor or La Primera, also known as Liga Pepsi for sponsorship reasons, is the top professional association football, football league in El Salvador. It was established in 1947, and in 2011 had 10 clubs. Initially the league was run as a year-long tournament, but since 1998 there are two tournaments each year, much like in many other football leagues in the Americas. The Apertura season runs from August to December, while the Clausura season runs from February to July. Of the 56 teams to have competed in the league, C.D. Eduardo Lara Lozano (born 4 September 1959 in Cali) is a Colombian football manager. Lara has coached all levels of the Colombian national youth team. He is currently the manager of Alianza. Francisco José Medrano Magaña (born July 14, 1983, in San Salvador, El Salvador) is a former footballer who played as a midfielder. His last team was Sonsonate F.C, Club career Medrano joined Alianza Reserves from San Luis Talpa Reserves in 2001 and was barely used for the seniors in the next season, prompting him to leave for Luis Ángel Firpo where he did get significant playing time.
