2023–24 Petro De Luanda Basketball Season
Petro de Luanda (basketball), Petro de Luanda plays the 2023–24 season in the Angolan Basketball League and the Basketball Africa League (BAL), as well as in two national cup competitions. This season saw Petro win their first BAL championship. The team came off a successful domestic season in 2022–23, which included Petro's 16th national title. It is the fourth season under Brazilian head coach José Neto (basketball), José Neto. The team strengthened their roster with Angolan star players Edmir Lucas and Yanick Moreira – both had played for Petro earlier in their career. In March 2024, following disappointing results in the conference stage of the BAL, Petro and José Neto decided to part ways. Four days later, Sergio Valdeolmillos was hired as successor. José Neto (basketball)
José Alves dos Santos Neto (born 16 March 1971) is a Brazilian professional basketball coach. He is the current head coach of the Brazil women's national basketball team. Coaching career Pro clubs Neto has been the head coach of the Brazilian League club Flamengo. As the head coach of Flamengo, he won the 2014 FIBA Americas League championship, and the 2014 FIBA Intercontinental Cup. Petro de Luanda (2020–2024) In September 2020, Neto signed as head coach of Petro de Luanda of the Angolan Basketball League and Basketball Africa League. He won the 2021 Angolan League title in his first season, and guided Petro to the third place in the 2022 BAL season. NBA Academy Africa
The NBA Academy Africa is a basketball team and academy operated by the National Basketball Association (NBA), located in Saly, Senegal. Opened in 2017, the academy offers both education and basketball training. Several alumni of the program have played in professional leagues. The academy is a shared program between the NBA and SEED Academy. The academy has two indoor training courts, as well as dormitories and educational facilities. Since 2022, the academy has a program called BAL Elevate with the Basketball Africa League (BAL), that allows each BAL team to select an academy player to feature on its roster during the season. Casa do Pessoal do Porto do Lobito, commonly known as CPPL, is a multisports club from Lobito, Angola. Its men's basketball team competes at the Angolan Basketball League (also known as Unitel Basket), as well as other local competitions organized by the Angolan Basketball Federation. Jesus Cristo Basquetebol, also known as Jesus Christ Basketball or simply J.C., is an Angolan basketball team based in Viana, Luanda, Viana, Luanda Province. The team was founded in 2021 and entered the top flight Angolan Basketball League in the 2020–21 Angolan Basketball League, 2021 season. The team's name was chosen because the team mainly consists of Catholic players. In their debut season, Jesus Cristo finished in the 9th and last place. Ater James "AJ" Majok (born 4 July 1987) is a professional basketball player. Born in Sudan and raised in Australia, Majok represents Lebanon internationally. Mouloukou Souleyman Diabate (born 21 July 1987), commonly known as Solo Diabate, is an Ivorian basketball player for Petro de Luanda of the Unitel Basket and the Basketball Africa League (BAL).
