The 2023–24 PGA Tour of Australasia, titled as the 2023–24 Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia for sponsorship reasons, was the 50th season on the PGA Tour of Australasia, the main professional golf tour in Australia and New Zealand since it was formed in 1973. Changes for 2023–24 The season marked the return of the PNG Open, being played for the first time since 2019. The Heritage Classic (PGA Tour of Australasia), Heritage Classic also returned to the schedule, having not been played since 2013. Challenger title sponsorship In October 2023, it was announced that the tour had signed a title sponsorship agreement with Australian investment firm Challenger, being renamed as the Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia. Kazuma Kobori
Kazuma Kobori (born 25 October 2001) is a New Zealand professional golfer. He won the 2019 New Zealand PGA Championship as an amateur, as well as the individual title at the 2023 Eisenhower Trophy. Amateur career In 2019, Kobori was runner-up at the Australian Boys' Amateur. He won the SEC NZ PGA Championship on the PGA Tour of Australasia and was runner-up at the Carrus Open on the Charles Tour. In 2023, Kobori cemented his position as New Zealand's top male amateur golfer. He won the Australian Amateur two strokes ahead of Arron Edwards-Hill of England. He also won the Western Amateur at North Shore Country Club near Chicago, an Elite Amateur Series championship, and captured the individual honors at the 2023 Eisenhower Trophy, Eisenhower Trophy in Abu Dhabi. 2024 European Tour
The 2024 European Tour, titled as the 2024 DP World Tour for sponsorship reasons, was the 53rd season of the European Tour, the main professional golf tour in Europe since its inaugural season in 1972. It was the third season of the tour under a title sponsorship agreement with DP World that was announced in November 2021. Min Woo Lee
Min Woo Lee (born 27 July 1998) is an Australian professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour and the European Tour. He won the 2020 ISPS Handa Vic Open, the 2021 Abrdn Scottish Open and the 2023 Fortinet Australian PGA Championship on the European Tour. He also won the 2023 SJM Macao Open on the Asian Tour. Professional career Lee turned professional at the start of 2019. He played a number of events on the European Tour and had early success, finishing 4th in the Saudi International and tied for 5th in the ISPS Handa World Super 6 Perth, both events played in February. The Australian PGA Championship is a golf tournament on the PGA Tour of Australasia. It is the home tournament of the Australian PGA. Since 2000 it has been held in the South East Queensland region. The tournament was part of the OneAsia Tour from 2009 to 2014, and it has been co-sanctioned with the European Tour from 2015 to 2019 and again in 2022. The championship started in 1929, when the Australian Golf Union decided to hold the Australian Professional Championship during their annual championship meeting. The leading 16 professionals in the Open championship qualified for the match play event, with four rounds of matches over 36 holes. David Micheluzzi (born 29 July 1996) is an Australian professional golfer who currently plays on the European Tour and the PGA Tour of Australasia. The Victorian PGA Championship is a golf tournament played in Victoria, Australia. It has been part of the PGA Tour of Australasia each season since 2009. It is the oldest of the state professional championships, having been first held in 1922. History The first Victorian Professional Championship was held in November 1922 and was open to any professional in Australia and New Zealand. It was a 72-hole stroke-play event with 36 holes played at Royal Melbourne on 6 November and 36 holes played at Victoria Golf Club two day later. It attracted a number of New South Wales players as well as the professionals from Victoria. Billy Iles and Dan Soutar, one of the NSW players, were tied on 158 after the first day's play. The Gippsland Super 6 is a golf tournament that was played for the first time in November 2019. It is played at Warragul Country Club in Warragul, Gippsland, in south-eastern Victoria, Australia. Format The tournament uses a "Super 6" format. The first three days consist of ordinary stroke play, with a cut after 36 holes reducing the field to the top 50 and ties. After 54 holes, the field is cut to a fixed 24. On the final day, there is a knock-out phase, when six-hole stroke play contests are played. The leading 8 players after 54 holes receive a bye to the second round. History Because of bad weather the inaugural event in 2019 was reduced to 54 holes, the knockout phase being abandoned. The Queensland PGA Championship is a golf tournament on the PGA Tour of Australasia. The tournament is currently held at Nudgee Golf Club in Nudgee. History The event was founded as the Queensland Professional Championship in 1926. The inaugural championship was played at Brisbane Golf Club in late November with 12 professionals competing. There was a 36-hole stroke-play stage with the leading 4 qualifying for the match-play. The 36-hole semi-finals were played the following day with the 36-hole final on the third day. Arthur Spence, the Royal Queensland professional, beat Jack Quarton, the Toowoomba professional, in the final. 2023 WPGA Tour Of Australasia
The WPGA Tour of Australasia, formerly known as the ALPG Tour, is a professional golf tour for women which is based in Australia. WPGA stands for Women's Professional Golfers' Association. The tour was founded as the Ladies Professional Golf Association of Australia (LPGAA) in 1972 by Alan Gillott, who also later on founded ''The Golfer'' newspaper, a free publication provided to golfers and golf clubs, Australia-wide. The LPGAA switched to ALPG Tour in 1991. The first events featured twelve competitors, and the early years were a struggle. However the long-term trend was of gradual expansion and by 2004 there were over 150 members. The season features about a dozen tournaments, usually played over the Australian summer between November and March.
