2023–24 National League 2 East
The 2023–24 National League 2 East was the second season of the fourth-tier (east) of the English domestic rugby union competitions; one of three at this level. The others are National League 2 North and National League 2 West. Esher were crowned champions on 13 April with two games still to play following a home win over Dorking, booking a quick return to 2024–25 National League 1 after a gap of just one season. In the end it was fairly comfortable with Esher who could even afford to lose to runners up Barnes on the last day of the season. North Walsham were the first side to be relegated, going down with five games remaining following an away defeat to Canterbury on 9 March. It was a miserable season for the Norfolk club, who would achieve just one victory all season. Esher RFC
Esher Rugby Football Club is an English rugby union club based in Surrey, England. Esher currently play in the third division of the English league system, National League 1, following their promotion as champions from the 2023–24 National League 2 East. History The club was formed in 1923 when four rugby enthusiasts agreed to start a club. When the league system was introduced in 1987 Esher were placed in London 1, but were relegated in the first season and did not win promotion back to that league until 1993. Esher were first promoted to the national leagues system for the 1997–98 season, finishing fourth in National League 2 South. They led for most of the season the following year but finished second, but won promotion in 1999–00. Regional 1 South Central
Regional 1 South Central is a level five league in the English rugby union system, with the twelve teams drawn from across southern and South East England. The other level five leagues are Regional 1 Midlands, Regional 1 North West, Regional 1 North East, Regional 1 South East and Regional 1 South West. Prior to 2022, Regional 1 South Central and Regional 1 South East were part of a unified level five league known as London & South East Premier. Barnes () is a district in South West London, England, part of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. It takes up the extreme north-east of the borough, and as such is the closest part of the borough to central London. It is centred west south-west of Charing Cross in a bend of the River Thames. Westcombe Park RFC is a rugby football club based in Orpington in south-east London. The name of the club comes from the Westcombe Park area of what is today part of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, where the club was founded. The club played on fields in Lee, Shooter's Hill and Sidcup before the move to Orpington. Old Albanian Rugby Football Club (OAs) is a rugby union club based in St Albans, Hertfordshire, England. The club currently play in National League 2 East. History The club was formed in 1924 by a group of Old Boys of St Albans School. They acquired their first pavilion, which was a timber World War I Barrack Hut, located at Beech Bottom. Henley Hawks is a rugby union club based in Henley-on-Thames and is one of the leading rugby clubs in the Thames Valley. Founded in 1925 as Bury and West Suffolk Rugby Football Club, the men's 1st XV currently play in the fourth tier of the English league system, National League 2 East.
