2023–24 National League 1
The 2023–24 National League 1 is the 36th season of the National League 1, third tier of the English rugby union system, English domestic rugby union competitions. Chinnor R.F.C., Chinnor claimed the league title on 13 April with one game still to play following a resounding away win at Birmingham Moseley Rugby Club, Birmingham Moseley. Runners up Rams RFC, Rams looked like contenders for most of the season but in the end it was comfortable for Chinnor, who finished 13 points clear. In winning the league Chinnor would be promoted to the 2024–25 RFU Championship - the highest level the club had reached in its history. The relegation race was very tight and went to the last game of the season, with four sides possibly going down. Chinnor RFC
Chinnor Rugby Football Club is an English rugby union club based in Thame, Oxfordshire. They currently play in the second tier of the English league system, Champ Rugby, following their promotion from National League 1 having won promotion in the 2023–24 season. The club regularly runs five senior teams as well as a full youth setup from age 5 upwards. Chinnor's youth setup is widely thought of as one of the best in the country having produced top Premiership players such as Tom Varndell (Leicester Tigers), Tom Johnson (Exeter Chiefs), Dave Seymour (Saracens), Paul Volley (Wasps), and Sam Jones (Wasps). Chinnor became the first club in Oxfordshire or Buckinghamshire to establish an under-19 academy. Jersey Reds
Jersey Reds was a rugby union club based in Jersey, Channel Islands. On 28th September 2023, the club ceased trading and shortly thereafter went into liquidation following the withdrawal of financial support from a key investor. Until season 2022/23, the professional arm of Jersey Reds was part of Jersey RFC, a members' club established in 1879 which also had an amateur men's side, Jersey Reds Athletic, who play in the National Leagues (tier 7); Jersey Reds Women, who play in the Women's National Championship South 2 league; and a thriving Mini section with over 500 boys and girls participating. The 2022–23 National League 2 East is the first season of the fourth-tier (east) of the English domestic rugby union competitions; one of three at this level. The others are National League 2 North and National League 2 West. Previously, there were two leagues at level four; National League 2 North and National League 2 South. Blackheath became champions, with three matches to play, following their 93 – 17 defeat of Westcliff on 25 March 2023. Rochford Hundred and Westcliff are relegated to Regional 1 South East. The 2022–23 RFU Championship is the fourteenth season of the RFU Championship, the professional second tier of rugby union in England. It features eleven English teams and one from Jersey. Jersey Reds won the league with one match remaining. Structure The twelve teams will play each of the other teams twice. The results of the matches contribute points to the league as follows: * 4 points are awarded for a win * 2 points are awarded for a draw * 0 points are awarded for a loss, however * 1 losing (bonus) point is awarded to a team that loses a match by 7 points or fewer * 1 additional (bonus) point is awarded to a team scoring 4 tries or more in a match. Caldy Rugby Club is an England, English rugby union club which play in the RFU Championship, the English rugby union system, second tier of English rugby, following their promotion from National League 1 at the end of 2021–22.
