The 2023–24 season was the ninth in the history of Melbourne City FC (women). They were managed by Dario Vidošić. Review Background The 2022–23 season saw a perfect start in three matches into the top of the table towards Round 8; the last time they would finish a round in 1st place. Fellow undefeated matches kept City in second place during the time, until further losses to toppers Sydney FC and Western United brought City down to third place, and winning only one of their last five regular season matches to finish 3rd and lose the elimination-final to Melbourne Victory 4–1 on penalties after a 3–3 draw. Melbourne City Women's Football Club, also known as the Melbourne City Women or simply as City, represents Melbourne City in the A-League Women, the top division soccer league in Australia. Lysianne Proulx (born April 17, 1999) is a Canadian soccer player who plays as a goalkeeper for Serie A club Juventus and the Canada national team. Early life Proulx began playing youth soccer in 2004, at age four with CS Boucherville, playing there until the U10 level. She began playing goalkeeper at age 7. From 2009 to 2013, she played with CS Roussillon, later joining FC St-Léonard in 2014. She also represented the Rive-Sud regional district team and the Québec provincial team. Canberra United Football Club is an Australian professional soccer club based in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory. Laura Hughes (born 6 June 2001) is an Australian soccer player who plays as a midfielder for Melbourne City in the A-League Women. Career Hughes was born in Canberra, and was signed in 2016 from the Canberra academy, and also had played some games for the Junior Matildas. She made her debut on 18 December 2016, as a substitute in Canberra's 5–1 victory. This was her only appearance for the year. In the 2018–19 season, Hughes played a more regular role for Canberra which culminated with her winning the club's rising star for the year.
