2023–24 Liverpool F.C. Season
The 2023–24 season was Liverpool Football Club's 132nd season in existence and their 62nd consecutive season in the top flight of English football. In addition to the Premier League, they participated in the FA Cup, EFL Cup and the UEFA Europa League, having failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League in the previous season. Virgil van Dijk was appointed the new club captain after the departure of Jordan Henderson. The Dutchman also became Liverpool's second non-British or Irish captain after Sami Hyypiä, who was appointed in the 2001–02 season. Trent Alexander-Arnold also replaced James Milner as vice-captain. The season saw a rebuild in midfield as the club signed Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo and, on transfer deadline day, Ryan Gravenberch. Ryan Gravenberch
Ryan Jiro Gravenberch (born 16 May 2002) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a central or defensive midfielder for club Liverpool and the Netherlands national team. Gravenberch began his career with Zeeburgia before joining Ajax, where he won three Eredivisie titles. In 2022, he signed for Bayern Munich, helping them win the Bundesliga. He transferred to Liverpool in 2023. Gravenberch played for the Netherlands at various youth levels, and was part of the under-17 squad that won the 2018 UEFA European Under-17 Championship. Wataru Endo
is a Japanese professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for club Liverpool and captains the Japan national team. Endo began his career at J1 League club Shonan Bellmare before moving to Urawa Red Diamonds in 2016, where he won the league title and the 2017 AFC Champions League. In 2018, he joined Sint-Truiden of the Belgian Pro League, before being loaned to Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart in 2019. James Milner

Sami Tuomas Hyypiä (; born 7 October 1973) is a Finnish professional football manager and a former player who played as a centre-back. Hyypiä began his playing career with Ykkönen side Kumu and soon moved to Veikkausliiga outfit MyPa. He spent four years at the club, helping them win the Finnish Cup in 1992 and 1995.
