The 2023–24 Lechia Gdańsk season is the club's 80th season of existence, and their 1st season in the second division of Polish football after suffering relegation during the 2022–23 Ekstraklasa season. Lechia Gdańsk
Lechia Gdańsk () is a Polish football (soccer), football club based in Gdańsk. As of the 2025–26 Ekstraklasa, 2025–26 season, they compete in the Ekstraklasa. The club was founded in 1945 by people Polish population transfers (1944–1946), expelled from Lviv, Lwów, who were supporters of Poland's oldest football team Lechia Lwów, founded in 1903. The club's name comes from Lechia, a poetic name for Poland, and is a continuation of the name used by the club based in Lwów. In their early years, Lechia enjoyed some success, most notably finishing third in the Ekstraklasa, Polish top division, before spending decades in the second and third tiers. In the early 1980s, Lechia won the Polish Cup, the Polish Super Cup, and played in a European competition for the first time. After having two mergers with other teams in the 1990s the club had to restart from the sixth tier in 2001. Luis Fernández Teijeiro (born 27 September 1993) is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as a forward for Primera Federación club Arenteiro. Club career Born in Burela, Province of Lugo, Fernández was a youth product of neighbouring Deportivo de La Coruña. He made his debut as a senior with the reserves, representing them in the Tercera División and scoring 21 goals in the 2012–13 season. Bohdan Ihorovych Sarnavskyi (; born 29 January 1995) is a Ukrainian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Polish club Lechia Gdańsk. Società Polisportiva Ars et Labor, commonly referred to by the acronym SPAL (), is a professional football club based in Ferrara, Emilia-Romagna, Italy. During the 2024–25 season the team played in Serie C, the third tier of the Italian football league system. Founded in 1907, since 1928 they have played their home matches at Stadio Paolo Mazza, named after Paolo Mazza (chairman of the club 1946–1977). Dawid Bugaj (born 9 July 2004) is a Polish professional footballer who plays as a right-back for Major League Soccer club CF Montréal. Career Bugaj started playing football with the youth side of Molde FK. In 2019, Bugaj progressed to the Molde FK 2 team, and made his league debut in a match against Eidsvold TF. Despite the promise shown by Bugaj, he failed to make another appearance for the second team. In 2020, Bugaj had a trial with Borussia Dortmund, however no offer was made by Borussia and he joined SPAL on a permanent contract. Jakub Sypek (born 7 April 2001) is a Polish professional footballer who plays as a left winger for Ekstraklasa club Zagłębie Lubin.
