2023–24 Figure Skating Season
The 2023–24 figure skating season began on July 1, 2023, and ended on June 30, 2024. During this season, elite skaters competed at the ISU (International Skating Union) Championship level at the 2024 European Championships, Four Continents Championships, World Junior Championships, World Championships, and the Winter Youth Olympics. They also competed at elite events such as the ISU Challenger Series as well as the Grand Prix and Junior Grand Prix series, culminating at the Grand Prix Final. On June 15, 2023, the International Skating Union announced that all figure skaters and officials from Russia and Belarus would remain banned from attending any international competitions. Season notes Age eligibility Skaters are eligible to compete in ISU events at either junior or senior levels according to their age. Sergei Dudakov
Sergei Viktorovich Dudakov (; born 13 January 1970) is a Russian figure skating coach and former competitor who represented the Soviet Union. He is the 1989 Golden Spin of Zagreb champion and a two-time (1989–90) Piruetten champion. He finished 7th at the 1987 World Junior Championships. He was coached by Viktor Kudriavtsev in Moscow. Dudakov coached at DYUSSH No. 48 (Moscow) in 2006–11 before joining Eteri Tutberidze's group at Sambo 70 (Moscow) in the 2011–12 season. Eteri Georgievna Tutberidze (Georgian language, Georgian: ეთერი გიორგის ასული თუთბერიძე; ; born 24 February 1974) is a Georgian-Russian figure skating coach who works mainly with female single skating, single skaters. Galit Chait
Galit Chait (, ''Galit Hayat''; born on January 29, 1975) is an Israeli former competitive ice dancer. She and her partner Sergei Sakhnovski competed internationally for Israel from 1995 to 2006, becoming the 2002 World bronze medalists. Personal life Chait was born in Israel. Her family moved to New Jersey when she was young, and she first skated at age 8. Her father, Boris Chait, has been president of the Israeli Ice Skating Federation since 2002. On August 23, 2008, Chait married former Italian military policeman Francesco Moracci in New Jersey and then on September 13, 2008, they had a second wedding in Florence, Italy. Evgeni Krasnopolski (, ; born 4 October 1988) is a Ukrainian-born Israeli retired pair skater. Krasnopolski and Andrea Davidovich were the first pair representing Israel to qualify for Israel at the 2014 Olympics. They finished 15th in Sochi. Krasnopolski competed with Danielle Montalbano from 2009 to 2012. Alexei Bychenko
Alexei Bychenko (; ; born 5 February 1988) is a retired Ukrainian-born Israeli figure skater. He represented Ukraine through 2009 and Israel after that. He is the 2016 European Figure Skating Championships silver medalist and 2016 Rostelecom Cup bronze medalist. He is the first Israeli skater to medal at the European Championships. Marina Olegovna Zoueva or Zueva (; born 9 April 1956) is a Russian figure skating coach, choreographer, and former competitor in ice dancing. Representing the Soviet Union with Andrei Vitman, she placed 5th at the 1977 World Championships and won two medals at Skate Canada International. Brian Orser
Brian Ernest Orser (born 18 December 1961) is a Canadian former competitive and professional figure skater and coach to Olympic champions. He is the 1984 and 1988 Olympic silver medallist, 1987 World champion and eight-time (1981–88) Canadian national champion. At the 1988 Winter Olympics, the rivalry between Orser and American figure skater Brian Boitano, who were the two favorites to win the gold medal, captured media attention and was described as the " Battle of the Brians". Angelina Nikolayevna Turenko (; born 16 December 1988) is a Russian figure skating coach and former competitor. She is the 2003 Coupe Internationale de Nice champion. Personal life Turenko was born on December 16, 1988, in Leningrad. In the fall of 2020, she married Italian chef, Giovanni Ricciardella. Tatiana Valeryevna Malinina (; born 28 January 1973) is a Russian- Uzbek retired figure skater who competed for Uzbekistan. Tammy Gambill
Tammy Gambill is an American figure skating coach and former national-level skater. Several of her students have medaled at international competitions and three have competed at the Olympics. She has also won the 2005 USOC Developmental Coach Award. Early years Gambill grew up in Sacramento, California. She first went ice skating with her Blue Bird troop. Her older sister was a competitive swimmer, but since Gambill didn't have the talent, she convinced her parents to let her take figure skating lessons. When she was 13, she moved to Los Angeles, to work with a top coach. She lived with a host family and qualified to the U.S. Championships.
