2023–24 Croatian Football League
The 2023–24 Croatian Football League (officially SuperSport Hrvatska nogometna liga for sponsorship reasons) was the 33rd season of the Croatian First Football League, Croatian top division football, the national championship for men's association football teams in Croatia, since its establishment in 1992. The season began on 21 July 2023. Teams The league consisted of ten teams; the top nine teams from the previous season, and one team promoted from the First Football League (Croatia), Prva NL. 2022–23 First Football League (Croatia), 2022–23 Prva NL champions NK Rudeš, Rudeš were promoted and returned after a four-year absence, replacing the 2022–23 Croatian Football League bottom-placed team, HNK Šibenik, Šibenik (relegated after three seasons in the top flight). The Hrvatska nogometna liga (; ), abbreviated as HNL and also known for sponsorship reasons as the SuperSport HNL, is a professional association football league in Croatia and the highest level of the Croatian football league system. Established in 1992, it was previously called Prva Hrvatska nogometna liga (1. HNL; ), but a league structure reorganization from 2022–23 led to name changes for the three top league levels. Overview The league was formed in 1991, following the independence of Croatia and the creation of a separate Croatian league from the Yugoslav First League. Hrvatski nogometni klub Gorica (), commonly referred to as HNK Gorica, is a Croatian football club based in the town of Velika Gorica, located just south of the Croatian capital Zagreb.
