2023–24 Basketball Bundesliga
The 2023–24 Basketball Bundesliga, known as the easyCredit BBL for sponsorship reasons, was the 58th season of the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL), the top-tier level of professional club basketball in Germany. It ran from 27 September 2023 to 14 June 2024. Bayern Munich won their sixth title after a finals win over Alba Berlin. Format changes From this season on, the first six teams from the regular season qualified for the playoffs, while the places seven to ten played in a play-in tournament. Crailsheim Merlins
Crailsheim Merlins, currently referred to as Hakro Merlins Crailsheim for sponsorship reasons, is a professional basketball club based in Crailsheim, Germany. Established in 1986, the club plays in the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL), the highest professional league in Germany. The club is a part of the multi-sports club TSV Crailsheim. Home games are played in the Arena Hohenlohe, which has a capacity of 3,000 people. History The club was founded on 31 January 1986 by a group of students. Until 1994, the team was only active at the lower local leagues and had problems in finding a hall to play at. A year later, the club found a new home in the barracks of departed American armed forces. Basketballgemeinschaft Göttingen () is a German basketball club based in Göttingen, Germany. In 2010, the club won the EuroChallenge against Krasnye Krylya Samara from Russia. The team plays in Germany's second division, the ProA. History Once '' BG 74 Göttingen'' was promoted to the Basketball Bundesliga in 2007, the professional team was separated from the club. In its first Bundesliga season, Göttingen managed to avoid relegation. In the following years the club would have some excellent performances, with consecutive playoff appearances. In the 2009–10 season, Göttingen made its debut in Europe by playing in the EuroChallenge. The team immediately made its mark as it won the competition after having a 13–3 record overall. Brose Arena (official spelling: brose ARENA) is the fourth largest multi-functional indoor arena in Bavaria, after the Olympic Hall and the SAP Garden in Munich and the Arena Nürnberger Versicherung in Nuremberg. History The rights relating to the name of the arena, built in 2001, and previously known as Forum Bamberg, were sold to JAKO (a manufacturer of team sports clothing) in March 2006. In connection with this process, building work was carried out to expand the capacity from 4,750 seats for basketball games (6,850 for concerts) to 6,820 for basketball with standing room (nearly 8,000 for concerts). The structural alteration work, which cost six million euros, brought the foyer forward by 20 meters, to make room for a new north stand. 2022–23 ProA
The ProA is the second-tier league of professional club basketball in Germany. The league comprises 16 teams. Officially the ProA is part of the ''2. Basketball Bundesliga'', which consists of the two hierarchical leagues ''ProA'' and ''ProB''. Before the 2007–08 season, the ''2. Basketball Bundesliga'' was a basketball league with the same name, which consisted of two geographical divisions. At the end of the league stage, the top two teams qualify for the Basketball Bundesliga, and the teams positioned 15th and 16th are relegated to the lower league, ProB. Mitteldeutscher Basketball Club (), for sponsorship reasons named SYNTAINICS MBC, and commonly known as simply MBC, is a professional basketball club based in Weißenfels, Germany. The club currently plays in the Basketball Bundesliga, the first tier league in Germany. MBC has won the BBL-Pokal in 2025, its first national trophy, as well as the FIBA EuroCup Challenge in 2004. Rostock Seawolves is a professional basketball club based in Rostock, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. The club currently competes in the Basketball Bundesliga.
