2023–24 Alcorn State Braves Basketball Team
The 2023–24 Alcorn State Braves basketball team represented Alcorn State University during the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Braves, led by fourth-year head coach Landon Bussie, played their home games at the Davey Whitney Complex in Lorman, Mississippi as members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). They finished the season 14–18, 13–5 in SWAC play, to finish in second place. As the No. 2 seed in the SWAC tournament, they lost to 2023–24 Alabama A&M Bulldogs basketball team, Alabama A&M in the quarterfinals. Previous season The 2022–23 Alcorn State Braves basketball team, Braves finished the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season, 2022–23 season 18–14, 15–3 in SWAC play, to finish as SWAC regular-season co-champions. Landon Bussie
Landon Everett Bussie (born November 11, 1987) is an American college basketball coach who is the current head coach of Chicago State. Playing career Bussie played his first two years at Livingstone College before finishing his playing career at Xavier University of Louisiana (XULA). Coaching career XULA Bussie started his coaching career at his alma mater. He was an assistant coach at XULA for four seasons. Prairie View A&M Bussie was first hired by Prairie View A&M as the women's assistant coach in 2013. Bussie then switched over to the men's side in 2014. Alcorn State University (Alcorn State, ASU or Alcorn) is a public historically black land-grant university adjacent to Lorman, Mississippi. History From Williamsburg Depot to Collins Collins was originally incorporated as Williamsburg Depot in 1899. The Gulf and Ship Island Railroad had completed construction, and bypassed Williamsburg, the county seat at that time.
