2023 World Surf League
The 2023 World Surf League was the 46th season of all iterations of the World Surf League, tour circuit for professional surfers. Billabong Pipe Masters will be the first round of the tour. For the third time, the season will end at Trestles (surfing), Lower Trestles, in San Clemente, California, San Clemente, USA, with the top five seeded men and women from the season going head to head to determine the champion at the 2023 World Surf League Finals, WSL Finals. Filipe Toledo and Stephanie Gilmore were the defending champions. Surfing At The 2024 Summer Olympics – Qualification
This article details the qualifying phase for surfing at the 2024 Summer Olympics. The competition at these Games will comprise a total of 48 surfers coming from their respective NOCs with a maximum of two to three per gender. All athletes must undergo a qualifying pathway to earn a spot for the Games through three successive editions of the ISA World Surfing Games, the World Surf League Championship Tour, and the Pan American Games. Host nation France has been entitled to use a single quota place each in both men's and women's shortboards. If one or more French surfers directly qualify through any of the tournaments, the host country place(s) shall be reallocated to the next highest-ranked eligible surfer at the 2024 ISA World Surfing Games. Supertubos ( Portuguese for ''Supertubes'') is a wave and beach located in Peniche, Portugal. The break is the site of the MEO Pro Portugal from the World Surf League Men's and Women's Championship Tour event. MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal
MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal formerly known as ''MEO Pro Portugal'', ''Moche Rip Curl Pro Portugal'' or ''Rip Curl Pro Portugal'' is a professional surfing competition of the WSL World Tour. As of 2022, held every year in March at the Supertubos beach in Peniche, Portugal. The event was first founded in 2010 as ''Rip Curl Pro Portugal''. Sunset Beach (Oahu)
Sunset Beach is on the North Shore of Oahu in Hawaii and known for big wave surfing during the winter season. The original Hawaiian name for this place is Paumalū. It is a two-mile (3.3 km) stretch of mostly beige sand located at 59-104 Kamehameha Highway in Pupukea, 39 miles (63 km) driving distance from Waikiki. Lifeguards are usually present. Like many beaches on Oahu's North Shore, Sunset Beach is considered dangerous for inexperienced surfers, due to extensive coral formations near the surface that present the risk of serious injury. Banzai Pipeline
The Banzai Pipeline, or simply Pipeline or Pipe, is a surf reef break located in Hawaii, off Ehukai Beach Park in Pupukea on O'ahu's North Shore. A reef break is an area in the ocean where waves start to break once they reach the shallows of a reef. Pipeline is known for huge waves that break in shallow water just above a sharp and cavernous reef, forming large, hollow, thick curls of water that surfers can tube ride. There are three reefs at Pipeline in progressively deeper water farther out to sea that activate according to the increasing size of approaching ocean swells. Billabong Pipeline Masters
The Pipe Pro is an event in surfing held annually at Banzai Pipeline in Oahu, Hawaii. It was established in 1971 and has been sponsored by Yeti Coolers, who have a three year partnership in place, which began in 2023. The event attracts the top 34 surfers from The World Surf League (WSL) as well as 32 surfers who compete in walk-on trials. Until 2019, the event was the final leg of the Triple Crown of Surfing and the final event on the WSL Championship Tour.
