2023 NCAA Women's Gymnastics Tournament
The 2023 NCAA women's gymnastics tournament was the 40th NCAA women's gymnastics tournament, the annual women's gymnastics championship contested by the teams of the member associations of NCAA. The first and second round and regional final were hosted on campuses from March 29 to April 2, 2023, while the semi-final and final were held at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas from April 13 to April 15, 2023. Format The eight lowest seeded teams competed in the first round, followed by the second round. The top two teams from each region were moved on to the semi-finals. Dickies Arena
Dickies Arena is a 14,000-seat multipurpose arena, located within the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas. The venue hosted a public ribbon cutting on October 26, 2019. The first event held was a Twenty One Pilots concert on November 8, 2019. The facility is the result of a public-private partnership between Fort Worth, Tarrant County, the state of Texas, and a group of private-sector participants, including foundations, individuals, and organizations. The arena was designed by the 2015 Driehaus Prize winner David M. Schwarz and is owned by Fort Worth and managed by the not-for-profit Multipurpose Arena Fort Worth (MAFW). Pauley Pavilion
Edwin W. Pauley Pavilion, commonly known as Pauley Pavilion, is an indoor arena located in the Westwood Village district of Los Angeles, California, on the campus of UCLA. It is home to the UCLA Bruins men's and women's basketball teams. The men's and women's volleyball and women's gymnastics teams also compete here. All teams, except for the men's volleyball team, compete in the Big Ten Conference. The building, designed by architect Welton Becket, was dedicated in June 1965, named for University of California Regent Edwin W. Pauley, who had matched the alumni contributions. Arkansas Razorbacks Gymnastics
The Arkansas Razorbacks gymnastics team represents the University of Arkansas and competes in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The team was founded in 2003 and is currently coached by Jordyn Wieber, after she assumed the position in April 2019. History The gymnastics team was founded in 2003 by Mark Cook, who started building the team in 2001. Cook had previously coached the Stanford Cardinal, Stanford gymnastics and UCLA Bruins gymnastics, UCLA Bruins teams, as the head coach and assistant coach respectively. Norah Flatley
Norah Irene Flatley (born March 10, 2000, in San Diego, California) is an American artistic gymnast. She is the 2014 Pacific Rim Gymnastics Championships, 2014 Pacific Rim junior balance beam champion. She previously competed for the UCLA Bruins women's gymnastics, UCLA Bruins and also competed for the Arkansas Razorbacks gymnastics, Arkansas Razorbacks. Early life Norah Flatley was born on March 10, 2000, in San Diego to Terrence Flatley and Ann McKenzie. She is the youngest of four children. One of Flatley's sisters, Anna, was a competitive gymnast, and at the age of four Flatley wanted to join her. She enrolled in gymnastics classes at Salto Gymnastics in Wisconsin. The Michigan Wolverines women's gymnastics team represents the University of Michigan and competes in the Big Ten Conference. Sierra Brooks (born September 29, 2001) is an American artistic gymnast. She currently competes for the Michigan Wolverines women's gymnastics team, and is a six-time All-American. Early and personal life Brooks was born in Hinsdale, Illinois to David and Shannon Brooks. Her father, David, played college baseball at Eastern Illinois, while her mother, Shannon, was a member of the Bradley University dance team. She attended Oswego East High School in Oswego, Illinois, and was a five-time Illinois state champion, and a two-time Region 5 All-Star team member. The Oregon State Beavers women's gymnastics team represents Oregon State University in NCAA women's artistic gymnastics, competing at the Gill Coliseum in Corvallis, Oregon. History The program began in 1966; competing the first time in 1967, with Sylvia Moore taking the lead as the first gymnastics coach of the modern era of Oregon State. She headed the program until 1975, when Ron Ludwig succeeded her – the Beavers finished sixth at the AIAW Regional in Monmouth, Oregon. Luisa Fernanda Blanco Saavedra (born 18 November 2001) is an artistic gymnast. Born in the United States, she represents Colombia internationally. She competed for the Alabama Crimson Tide gymnastic team and is the 2021 NCAA Champion on the balance beam. She represented Colombia at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
