2023 Michigan Wolverines Softball Team
The 2023 Michigan Wolverines softball team was an American college softball team that represents the University of Michigan during the 2023 NCAA Division I softball season. The Wolverines, wee led by head coach Bonnie Tholl in her first season, and played their home games at Alumni Field in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Previous season The Wolverines finished the 2022 season 38–18 overall, and 14–8 in the Big Ten, finishing in fifth place in their conference. Following the conclusion of the regular season, the Wolverines received an at-large bid to the 2022 NCAA Division I Softball Tournament and were defeated in the Regional Final by UCF. Preseason On June 13, 2022, graduate student Alex Storako transferred to Oklahoma. The next day, sophomore pitcher Annabelle Widra transferred to Auburn. Bonnie Tholl
Bonita Lynn Tholl (born June 30, 1969) is a former American softball player, who is currently the head coach for the Michigan Wolverines softball team. Softball player After graduating from Victor J. Andrew High School in Tinley Park, Illinois, Tholl played softball at the University of Michigan and started at the position Shortstop from 1988–1991. She led the team in runs for three straight years from 1989-1991 and she also led the team in walks for three seasons (1988, 1989, 1991). She also shares the Big Ten record for fewest strikeouts in a conference season with zero in 1991. She is the University of Michigan record holder for most stolen bases in a game with 4 stolen bases against FAMU in 1990. She was the captain of the team and received the 1991 Maize and Blue Award. Carol Hutchins
Carol Sue Hutchins (born May 26, 1957) is an American former softball coach. In 38 years as the head coach of Michigan Wolverines softball, (1985–2022), she won more games than more than any other coach in University of Michigan history in any sport, male or female with 1,684 wins. Hutchins had a career record of 1,707 wins, 551 losses, and five ties, for a winning percentage. She led the Wolverines to their first NCAA softball championship in 2005. On April 2, 2016, Hutchins became the winningest head coach in NCAA Division I Softball history when Michigan defeated Indiana, passing Margie Wright's record of 1,457 career wins. She reclaimed the record as winningest head coach on February 25, 2022, passing Mike Candrea's record of 1,674. Wilsonville is a city primarily in Clackamas County, Oregon, United States. A portion of the northern section of the city is in Washington County. It was founded as Boones Landing because of the Boones Ferry which crossed the Willamette River at the location; the community became Wilsonville in 1880.
