2023 Global T20 Canada
The 2023 Global T20 Canada was the third edition of Global T20 Canada, a Twenty20 professional cricket tournament that was played at the TD Cricket Arena in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. The tournament began on 20 July 2023, and concluded on 6 August 2023. It was the first time the tournament has been held since 2019, as subsequent editions were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the final, Montreal Tigers defeated Surrey Jaguars by 5 wickets to win their first title. Background The tournament is being held for the first time since 2019; the third Global T20 Canada tournament was originally scheduled to be hosted in 2020, but was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada. Organizers announced plans to re-locate the tournament to the Kinrara Academy Oval in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for 2021, but it was once again cancelled due to COVID-19. Each team featured four local Canadian cricketers in each squad, along with international players. Davenell Frederick Whatmore (born 16 March 1954) is a Sri Lanka born Australian cricket coach and former cricketer. Lance Klusener (born 4 September 1971) is an international cricket coach and former cricketer of South Africa. He was known for his aggressive batting and fast-medium swing bowling. Klusener was one of the best all-rounders in the world during 1990s and early 2000s and one of the pioneers of power batting as a finisher. Shoaib Malik ( Punjabi, (; born 1 February 1982) is a Pakistani cricketer who played for the Pakistan national cricket team and currently plays for Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Shane Bond
Shane Edward Bond (born 7 June 1975) is a New Zealand cricket coach and former cricketer and present bowling coach of Rajasthan Royals, described as "New Zealand's best fast bowler since Sir Richard Hadlee", and often among the greatest fast bowlers of his era.
