2023 ABN AMRO Open
The 2023 ABN AMRO Open was a men's tennis tournament played on indoor hard courts. It took place at the Rotterdam Ahoy in the Dutch city of Rotterdam, between 13 and 19 February 2023. It was the 50th edition of the Rotterdam Open, and part of the ATP Tour 500 series on the 2023 ATP Tour. The tournament also included a wheelchair tennis singles and doubles draw for both men and women. This was the first year that the women's wheelchair tournament took place. ATP Tour 500
The ATP 500 tournaments (previously known as the ''ATP World Tour 500'' tournaments, ''ATP International Series Gold'', and ''ATP Championship Series'') are the fourth highest tier of annual men's tennis tournament after the four Grand Slam tournaments, ATP Finals, and the ATP Masters 1000. The series includes 13 tournaments, with 500 ranking points awarded for the events' singles champions – which accounts for the name of the series. Tournaments have various draws of 32 and 48 for singles and 16 and 24 for doubles. It is mandatory for leading players to enter at least four 500 events, including at least one after the US Open; if they play fewer than four, or fail to play in one after the US Open they get a "zero" score towards their world ranking for each one short. Roger Federer holds the record for most singles titles at 24, while Daniel Nestor holds the record for most doubles titles won with 20. Jannik Sinner
Jannik Sinner (; ; born 16 August 2001) is an Italian professional tennis player. He has been ranked as high as world No. 9 by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), achieved on 1 November 2021, and world No. 124 in doubles, achieved on 27 September 2021. Sinner has won six ATP titles in singles and one in doubles, and became the youngest ATP title-holder since 2008 by winning the 2020 Sofia Open and the youngest to have five titles since Novak Djokovic in 2007. Tim Van Rijthoven
Tim van Rijthoven (born 24 April 1997) is a Dutch professional tennis player. Van Rijthoven has a career-high ATP singles ranking of world No. 101, which he first achieved on 18 July 2022, and a career-high doubles ranking of world No. 225, attained in May 2022. As a junior, he reached a high of world No. 13 in 2015 and reached the quarterfinals of the 2014 Wimbledon Championships boys' singles tournament and semifinals of the boys' doubles. Tallon Griekspoor
Tallon Griekspoor (; born 2 July 1996) is a Dutch professional tennis player. He has a career-high ATP singles ranking of world No. 36, achieved on 6 March 2023. He also has a career high ATP doubles ranking of World No. 217 achieved on 31 October 2022. Griekspoor is the current Dutch No. 2 men's singles player. He has won a record eight Challenger titles in one season (2021), and became also the first player in history to win five consecutive such titles. Gijs Brouwer (born 14 March 1996) is an American-born Dutch tennis player. Brouwer has a career high ATP singles ranking of World No. 116 achieved on 20 February 2023. He also has a career high doubles ranking of World No. 148 achieved on 22 August 2022. A wild card (also wildcard or wild-card and also known as an at-large berth or at-large bid) is a tournament or playoff berth awarded to an individual or team that fails to qualify in the normal way; for example, by having a high ranking or winning a qualifying stage.
