2022–23 Western Kentucky Hilltoppers Basketball Team
The 2022–23 Western Kentucky Hilltoppers men's basketball team represented Western Kentucky University during the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Hilltoppers were led by head coach Rick Stansbury in his seventh season and played their home games at E. A. Diddle Arena in Bowling Green, Kentucky as ninth-year members of Conference USA. They finished the season 17–16, 8–12 in C-USA play to finish in a tie for seventh place. As the No. 8 seed in the C-USA tournament, they defeated UTEP in the first round before losing to Florida Atlantic in the quarterfinals. On March 11, 2023, the school announced that head coach Rick Stansbury had resigned. On March 18, the school named Texas A&M–Corpus Christi head coach Steve Lutz the team's new head coach. Rick Stansbury
Richard Lee Stansbury (born December 23, 1959), is an American college basketball coach who most recently was an assistant coach at the Memphis Tigers men's basketball, University of Memphis. He was the head coach at Western Kentucky Hilltoppers basketball, Western Kentucky from 2016 to 2023 and at Mississippi State Bulldogs men's basketball, Mississippi State from 1998 to 2012. Stansbury completed his tenure at Mississippi State ranked 9th all-time in Southeastern Conference (SEC) wins. Khristian Lander
Khristian Lander (born August 9, 2002) is an American college basketball player for the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers of the Conference USA. He previously played for the Indiana Hoosiers of the Big Ten Conference. High school career Lander played basketball for FJ Reitz High School in Evansville, Indiana. As a junior, he averaged 21 points, six rebounds and 4.6 assists per game, earning MaxPreps Junior All-American third team honors. Lander finished his high school career with 1,314 points. He also played on the AAU circuit with Indiana Elite, where he built a relationship with future college teammates Trey Galloway and Anthony Leal.
