The 2022–23 Wellington Phoenix FC (women), Wellington Phoenix season was the club's second season in the A-League Women, the premier competition for Association football, women's football in Australia, originally known as the W-League. On 25 May, Wellington Phoenix announced that head coach Gemma Lewis had signed a one-year contract extension with the club. However, four months later Lewis departed to take up a job in her homeland with the Football Association of Wales, and assistant coach Natalie Lawrence replaced her as head coach. The following month, Lawrence appointed Callum Holmes as assistant coach and Maia Vink as the team analyst and second assistant coach, later confirming the rest of the staff with only the strength and conditioning coach, Daniel Gordon, retained. Wellington Phoenix Women's Football Club is a professional Women's association football, women's football club based in Wellington, New Zealand. Lily Hannah Alfeld (born 4 August 1995) is a New Zealand footballer who last played for and captained Wellington Phoenix. She has represented New Zealand at age group level. Club career Coastal Spirit Alfeld played for Coastal Spirit in Christchurch from 2009 to 2013 in the Premier Women's Football division. She was part of the winning team who won the 2013 Women's Knockout Cup. She was also part of the 2011 team who made it to the finals of the cup before losing 3–0 to Glenfield Rovers. Stjarnan Women's Football
The Stjarnan women's football team is the women's football department of the Ungmennafélagið Stjarnan multi-sport club. It is based in Garðabær, Iceland, and currently plays in the Besta deild kvenna, the top-tier women's football league in Iceland. The team plays its home games at the Samsung völlurinn located in Garðabær. The team's colors are blue and white. Sydney Football Club is an Australian professional women's association football club based in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. They compete in the A-League Women, the top tier of women's soccer in Australia. History Establishment The formation of the W-League in October 2008 saw the league composed of eight teams.
