2022–23 Ukrainian Premier League
The 2022–23 Ukrainian Premier League season, referred to as the VBet Liha for sponsorship reasons, was the 32nd top-level football club competition since the fall of the Soviet Union and the 15th since the establishment of the Ukrainian Premier League. The defending champions were the 16-time winners Dynamo Kyiv. The previous 2021–22 season was abandoned due to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. Although Shakhtar Donetsk were at the top of the table when the league was abandoned, no title was officially awarded ("The handing out of awards to the league's medalists will not take place"). The current season began on 23 August 2022 and ended on 3 June 2023. Shakhtar Donetsk were crowned champions for the 14th time in their history. The Ukrainian Premier League ( ) or UPL is a professional association football league in Ukraine and the highest level of the Ukrainian football league system. 2023–24 Ukrainian Premier League
The 2023–24 Ukrainian Premier League season, referred to as the VBet Liha for sponsorship reasons, was the 33rd top-level football club competition since the fall of the Soviet Union and the 16th since the establishment of the Ukrainian Premier League. On 7 June 2023 the UPL published highlights of the next season regulation draft announcing that preliminary the next season is expected to start on 29 July. Also, this season had the national cup competitions restored which started on 16 August. The season regulation draft is yet to be approved by the General Assembly of the UPL participants. Teams This season the Ukrainian Premier League remained at 16 teams. Two teams had their status suspended due to the Russian occupation and/or destruction of their sports infrastructure. FC Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih (2020)
FC Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih () is a Ukraine, Ukrainian professional Association football, football club based in Kryvyi Rih. Until 2013 the club participated in professional competitions. In June 2013 the club went bankrupt and was expelled from the Ukrainian Premier League. There was a failed attempt to revive the club in 2014, until finally the club was reestablished again in 2015. In 2020, it was restructured as Football Club Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih based on FC Hirnyk Kryvyi Rih, Hirnyk Kryvyi Rih (founded in 1925), which took on the Football Club Kryvbas's brand. 2015–16 Ukrainian Premier League
The 2015–16 Ukrainian Premier League season was the 25th top-level football competitions since the fall of the Soviet Union and the eighth since the establishment of the Ukrainian Premier League. Because of sponsorship the league changed its title for 2015–16 season to League Parimatch. The competition commenced on 17 July when Metalurh Zaporizhzhia hosted Zorya Luhansk in Zaporizhzhia. The first sixteen rounds were played before the winter break which began 6 December 2015; the competition resumed on 5 March 2016. The season concluded on 15 May 2016. 2021–22 Ukrainian First League
The 2021–22 Ukrainian First League was the 31st since its establishment. The league competition consisted of 16 teams. Earlier in 2021 it was discussed to expand the league to 20 teams with discontinuation of the UPL U-21 competitions, but that initiative was not realized. The competition was terminated at the PFL Council meeting on 6 May 2022 due to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. Teams This season, Ukrainian First League consisted of 16 teams. Western Ukraine
Western Ukraine or West Ukraine (, ) refers to the western territories of Ukraine. There is no universally accepted definition of the territory's boundaries, but the contemporary Ukrainian administrative regions ( oblasts) of Chernivtsi, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Ternopil and Zakarpattia (which were part of the former Austro-Hungarian Empire) are typically included.
