2022–23 Slovak Extraliga Season
The 2022–23 Slovak Extraliga season was the 30th season of the Slovak Extraliga, the highest ice hockey league in Slovakia. Regular season Standings Each team played 50 games: playing each of the other eleven teams four times – 2x at home, 2x away (44 games) and during the Christmas holidays (20.12.2022 – 4.1.2023) each team played the inserted matches within the region 1x at home, 1x away = 6 games. Points were awarded for each game, where three points are awarded for winning in regulation time, two points for winning in overtime or shootout, one point for losing in overtime or shootout, and zero points for losing in regulation time. At the end of the regular season, the team that finished with the most points was crowned the league champion. Slovak Extraliga
The Slovak Extraliga, known as the Tipsport liga since the 2025–26 season for sponsorship reasons, is the highest-level ice hockey league in Slovakia. From 2018–19 to 2020–21, the league included one or two teams from Hungary. Teams from the Extraliga can participate in the IIHF's annual Champions Hockey League (CHL). Participation is based on the strength of the various leagues in Europe (excluding the KHL). In the 2022–23 CHL season, the Extraliga was ranked the No. 10 league in Europe, so the champion of the previous season competed in the CHL. The 1993–94 season was the first of the Slovak Extraliga following the peaceful dissolution of Czechoslovakia midway through the 1992–93 Czechoslovak Extraliga seasonwhich all Slovak and Czech teams played to completion. Brett David Pollock (born 17 March 1996) is a Canadian professional ice hockey winger who currently plays for HC Bolzano of the ICEHL. Life Pollock was born in Regina, Saskatchewan. On the junior level, he played for the Sherwood Park Squires and Edmonton Oil Kings youth squads. Alex Breton (born July 5, 1997) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman who is currently playing for ERC Ingolstadt of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga. Career Breton started his career with the ECHL team Allen Americans in 2018. He spent a significant part of his first session on loan with AHL teams Belleville Senators and Springfield Thunderbirds. Samuel Hunter Fejes (born May 31, 1994) is an American professional ice hockey winger for HC Prešov Penguins of the Slovak Extraliga. Biography Fejes was born in Anchorage, Alaska. His ancestors came to the US from Slovakia. When he was 10 years old, he was involved in a car crash on the way home from a training that resulted in the death of his mother and left Fejes comatose for weeks. In April 2022 he was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma. After three months of rigorous chemotherapy treatment, the cancer entered remission and in October he was cancer free. At the junior level, Fejes played for Shattuck-Saint Mary's junior hockey team and for Colorado College in National Collegiate Athletic Association. Goals Against Average
Goals against average (GAA), also known as average goals against (AGA), is a statistic used in field hockey, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer, and water polo that is the mean of goals allowed per game by a goaltender or goalkeeper (depending on sport). GAA is analogous to a baseball pitcher's earned run average (ERA). In Japanese, the same translation (防御率) is used for both GAA and ERA, because of this. For ice hockey, the goals against average statistic is the number of goals a goaltender allows per 60 minutes of playing time. It is calculated by taking the number of goals against, multiplying that by 60 (minutes) and then dividing by the number of minutes played. The modification has been used by the National Hockey League (NHL) since 1965 and by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) since 1990.
