The 2022–23 Serie C was the 64th season of the Serie C, the third tier of the Italian football league system, organized by the Lega Pro. Changes The league will be composed by 60 teams, geographically divided into three different groups. The group composition will be decided and formalized by the Serie C league committee between July and August. The Serie C (), officially known as Serie C NOW for sponsorship purposes, is the third-highest division in the Italian football league system after the Serie B and Serie A. The Lega Italiana Calcio Professionistico (Lega Pro) is the governing body that operates the Serie C. The unification of the Lega Pro Prima Divisione and the Lega Pro Seconda Divisione as Lega Pro Divisione Unica (often also abbreviated as Lega Pro) in 2014 reintroduced the format of the original Serie C that existed between 1935 and 1978 (before the split into Serie C1 and Serie C2). Juventus Next Gen
Juventus Next Gen (), also known as Juve Next Gen or Juve NG, is a professional football club based in Turin, Piedmont, Italy, which acts as the reserve team of club Juventus. They compete in , and play their home games at the Stadio La Marmora-Pozzo in Biella. Following the reintroduction of reserve teams in Italy, Juventus U23 was formed in 2018 and was registered to Serie C, the third level of the Italian league system. 2021–22 Serie D
The 2021–22 Serie D was the seventy-third season of the top level Italian non-professional football championship. It represents the fourth tier in the Italian football league system. Rules The season will provide a total nine promotions to Serie C (those being the winners of all nine groups). Teams placed between second and fifth for each group will play a so-called "playoff tournament", starting with two one-legged games played at the best placed team's home venue: * 2nd-placed team vs 5th-placed team; * 3rd-placed team vs 4th-placed team. In case of a draw by the end of the game, two extra times will be played; in case of no winner after that, the best-placed team will advance to the final. The two winning teams will then play a one-legged final, to be hosted at the best placed team's home venue, with the same rules as in the first round. The Lega Italiano Calcio Professionistico (Italian for Professional Football Italian League), commonly known as Lega Pro (Pro League), is the governing body that runs the third tier of professional football competitions in Italy, the Serie C. It used several names in the past, including Lega Professionisti Serie C. It is a full member of European Leagues. Italian Football League System
The Italian football league system, also known as the Italian football pyramid, refers to the hierarchically interconnected league system for association football in Italy. It consists of nine national and regional tournaments, the first three being professional, while the remaining six are amateur, set up by the Italian Football Federation. One team from San Marino also competes. The system has a hierarchical format with promotion and relegation between different divisions. In theory, it is possible for a lowly local amateur club to rise to the pinnacle of the Italian game and win the ''Scudetto''.
