2022–23 Petro De Luanda Basketball Season
Petro de Luanda (basketball), Petro de Luanda plays the 2023–24 season in the Angolan Basketball League and the Basketball Africa League (BAL) for a third straight season, as well as in two national cup competitions. It was the third season under head coach José Neto (basketball), José Neto. Domestically, Petro won the treble of the Unitel Basket, Taça de Angola (basketball), Angolan Cup and Supertaça de Angola (basketball), Supercup. In the 2023 BAL season, Petro de Luanda were eliminated from title contention by AS Douanes (basketball), AS Douanes in the semi-final. José Neto (basketball)
José Alves dos Santos Neto (born 16 March 1971) is a Brazilian professional basketball coach. He is the current head coach of the Brazil women's national basketball team. Coaching career Pro clubs Neto has been the head coach of the Brazilian League club Flamengo. As the head coach of Flamengo, he won the 2014 FIBA Americas League championship, and the 2014 FIBA Intercontinental Cup. Petro de Luanda (2020–2024) In September 2020, Neto signed as head coach of Petro de Luanda of the Angolan Basketball League and Basketball Africa League. He won the 2021 Angolan League title in his first season, and guided Petro to the third place in the 2022 BAL season. In the 2021–22 season, Neto and Petro won the triple crown in Angola as they won all three competitions (the Angolan League, Cup and Supercup). Glofate Garcia Buiamba (born 5 January 1999) is an Angolan basketball player who plays for Petro de Luanda of the Angolan Basketball League and . Early career In 2017, Buiamba attended an NBA Basketball Without Borders camp in New Orleans. Professional career Buiamba played his first season with Atlético Sport Aviação (ASA) in the 2018–19 season. Aboubakar Pedro Gakou (born 27 May 1997) is an Angolan basketball player who plays for Petro de Luanda and the Angola national team. Standing at , he plays as power forward. Gakou started his career with Petro in 2015 and has won four national championships with the team since, while being a three-time MVP winner as well. He won his first BAL championship in 2024. Ater James "AJ" Majok (born 4 July 1987) is a professional basketball player. Born in Sudan and raised in Australia, Majok represents Lebanon internationally.
