2022–23 Naisten Liiga Season
The 2022–23 Naisten Liiga season was the fortieth season of the , the premier level of women's ice hockey in Finland, since the league's establishment as the in 1982. The regular season began on 10 September 2022 and concluded on 19 February 2023. HIFK Naiset, HIFK Helsinki and KalPa Naiset, KalPa Kuopio both finished the regular season at the top of the league, tied with 93 points in 36 games. HIFK were granted the regular season championship title by virtue of a higher goal difference, marking the first regular season victory in team history. Kiekko-Espoo Naiset, Kiekko-Espoo, the reigning regular season champions from the previous four seasons (2018–19 to 2021–22 Naisten Liiga season, 2021–22), finished in third place. Naisten Liiga (ice Hockey)
The is the national premier league for women's ice hockey in Finland. Founded by the Finnish Ice Hockey Association as the Naisten Suomen mestaruus, SM-sarja (NSMs; ) in 1982, it was known as the Naisten Liiga (NSML;) from 2017 until being rebranded as Auroraliiga in 2024. The league comprises approximately 225 players across nine teams. Kiekko-Espoo Naiset, Kiekko-Espoo has been the dominating force of the Auroraliiga in the 21st century, winning seventeen Finnish Championships from 1999 to 2025. Tampereen Ilves Naiset () are an ice hockey team in the Auroraliiga. They are the representative women's team of the multi-sport club Ilves ry, Ilves, based in Tampere, and their home arena is the in Tampere's Tesoma district. The European Women's Hockey League, abbreviated EWHL, is an international ice hockey league. Created as the Elite Women's Hockey League in 2004 by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), the EWHL comprises clubs from several countries in Central Europe and one team from Kazakhstan, and is played in parallel to national championships. 2022 IIHF Women's World Championship Division I
The 2022 IIHF Women's World Championship Division I consisted of two international ice hockey tournaments of the 2022 Women's Ice Hockey World Championships organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). Division I A and Division I B represent the second and third tier of the IIHF World Women's Championship. All divisions stayed put after all events last year were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Jari Risku (born 11 February 1966) is a Finnish ice hockey coach, currently serving as head coach of HPK Kiekkonaiset in the Naisten Liiga.
