2022–23 Kategoria Superiore
The 2022–23 Kategoria Superiore was the 84th official season, or 87th season of top-tier Association football, football in Albania (including three unofficial championships during World War II) and the 23rd season under the name Kategoria Superiore. The season began on 19 August 2022 and ended on 29 May 2023. FK Partizani Tirana, Partizani won the league title on 29 May 2023, on the last matchday. The winners of this season's Kategoria Superiore earned a place in the 2023–24 UEFA Champions League#First qualifying round, first qualifying round of the 2023–24 Champions League, with the second and third placed clubs earning a place in the 2023–24 UEFA Europa Conference League#First qualifying round, first qualifying round of the 2023–24 Europa Conference League. Kategoria Superiore
Kategoria Superiore (), also known as Abissnet Superiore for sponsorship reasons with internet service provider, Abissnet, is a professional league for men's association football clubs in Albania. At the top of the Albanian football league system, it is the country's premier football competition. It is contested by 10 clubs, and operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Kategoria e Parë. Seasons run from August to May, with teams playing 36 matches each (playing each team in the league four times, twice at home and twice away). The competition was founded in 1930 as the Albanian National Championship during the reign of King Zog, shortly after the creation of the Albanian Football Association. Since 1930, 45 clubs have competed in recognised competitions, while only ten clubs have won the title: Tirana (26), Dinamo Tirana (18), Partizani (17), Vllaznia (9), Skënderbeu (8), Elbasani (2), Teuta (2), Egnatia (2), Flamurtari (1) and Kukësi (1). Krujë
Krujë ( sq-definite, Kruja; see also the etymology section) is a town and a municipality in north-central Albania. Located between Mount Krujë and the Ishëm River, the city is 20 km north of the capital of Albania, Tirana. Krujë was inhabited by the ancient Illyrian tribe of the Albanoi. In 1190 Krujë became the capital of the first Albanian state in the Middle Ages, the Principality of Arbanon. Later it was the capital of the Kingdom of Albania, while in the early 15th century Krujë was conquered by the Ottoman Empire, but then recaptured in 1443 by Skanderbeg, leader of the League of Lezhë, who successfully defended it against three Ottoman sieges until his death in 1468. The Ottomans took control of the town after the fourth siege in 1478, and incorporated it in their territories. The Niko Dovana Stadium, officially Stadiumi "Niko Dovana", is a multi-use stadium located in Durrës, Albania. It is the home ground of Teuta. The capacity is 12,040, making it the fifth largest ground in the country. It was renamed in 1991 in honour of former Teuta goalkeeper and financier Niko Dovana. Shijak ( sq-definite, Shijaku) is a town and a municipality in Durrës County, west-central Albania. The municipality was formed at the 2015 local government reform by the merger of the former municipalities Gjepalaj, Maminas, Shijak and Xhafzotaj, that became municipal units. Arena Egnatia
Egnatia Arena () is a multi-purpose stadium in Rrogozhinë, Albania. It was previously known as the Hasan Zyla Stadium. It is used for football matches and is the home ground of Egnatia. Its capacity is 4267 spectators. History The stadium has been used to host international matches for the Albania national under-19 football team and the Albania women's national under-19 football team. Egnatia Arena underwent renovations in 2021 to rebuild it with a capacity of 2,400 seats in order to meet FIFA standards. The renovation was estimated to cost $2 million. Rrogozhinë ( sq-definite, Rrogozhina) is a town and a municipality in Tirana County, centrally located in the Western Lowlands region of Albania. Adush Muça Stadium () is a multi-use stadium in Ballsh, Albania. It is currently used mostly for football (soccer), football matches and is the home ground of KS Bylis Ballsh, Bylis. The stadium has a capacity of 2,464 people. Kategoria e Parë is the second tier of professional football in Albania Albania ( ; or ), officially the Republic of Albania (), is a country in Southeast Europe.
