2022–23 Hannover 96 Season
The 2022–23 Hannover 96 season was the 127th season in the football club's history and 27th overall and fourth consecutive season in the second flight of German football, the 2. Bundesliga. Hannover 96 also participated in this season's edition of the domestic cup, the DFB-Pokal. This was the 64th season for Hannover in the Heinz von Heiden Arena, located in Hanover, Lower Saxony, Germany. Hannoverscher Sportverein von 1896, commonly referred to as Hannover 96 (), is a German professional association football, football club based in the city of Hanover, Lower Saxony. They played in the Bundesliga for a total of 30 years between 1964 and 2019 and currently play in the 2. Bundesliga, the second tier in the German football league system, having been relegated from the Bundesliga, Germany's first tier, after finishing 17th in the 2018–19 Bundesliga, 2018–19 season. Hannover 96 was founded in 1896. Hannover have won two List of German football champions, German championships and one DFB-Pokal. Hannover's stadium is the Niedersachsenstadion, HDI-Arena. Louis Schaub (; born 29 December 1994) is a professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Austrian Bundesliga club Rapid Wien. Born in Germany, he played for the Austria national team. Sebastian Ernst (born 4 March 1995) is a German professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Polish club ŁKS Łódź. Career Ernst is a Hannover 96 youth exponent.
