2022–23 Ford Trophy
The 2022–23 Ford Trophy was the 52nd season of The Ford Trophy, the List A cricket tournament that is played in New Zealand. It is the twelfth in a sponsorship deal between New Zealand Cricket and Ford Motor Company. The tournament was held from November 2022 to February 2023. In August 2022, New Zealand Cricket announced schedule of 2022–23 domestic season. Auckland were the defending champions. On 17 March 2023, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) announced date and venue for the rescheduled grand final match between Central Districts and Canterbury. In the final, Central Districts beat Canterbury by six wickets to win their 7th title. Cyclone Gabrielle
Severe Tropical Cyclone Gabrielle was a powerful and destructive tropical cyclone that devastated parts of the North Island of New Zealand and affected parts of Vanuatu and Norfolk Island in February 2023. It is the costliest tropical cyclone on record in the Southern Hemisphere, with total damage estimated to be New Zealand dollar, NZ$14.5 billion (United States dollar, US$9.2 billion), in which NZ$3.18 billion (US$2 billion) are insurance loss. Grand Final
Primarily in Australian sports, a grand final is a game that decides a sports league's premiership (or championship) winning team, i.e. the conclusive game of a finals (or play-off) series. Synonymous with a championship game in North American sports, grand finals have become a significant part of Australian culture. Henry Cooper (Northern Districts Cricketer)
Henry Ross Cooper (born 20 May 1993) is a New Zealand cricketer. He made his first-class debut for Northern Districts on 22 November 2016 in the 2016–17 Plunket Shield season. In June 2018, he was awarded a contract with Northern Districts for the 2018–19 season. Robert O'Donnell (cricketer)
Robert Roux O'Donnell (born 12 September 1994) is a New Zealand cricketer. Under-19s career In the 2014 Under-19 World Cup, he was named captain of the New Zealand team. O'Donnell was part of the squad for the previous edition of the tournament in 2012 in which New Zealand reached the semi-finals. Basin Reserve
The Basin Reserve, also known as the Cello Basin Reserve for sponsorship reasons, and commonly referred to as the Basin, is a cricket ground in Wellington, New Zealand. It is used for Test cricket, Test matches, and is the main home ground of the Wellington Firebirds First-class cricket, first-class team. The Basin Reserve is the only cricket ground to have listed status with Heritage New Zealand, in recognition of being the oldest first-class cricket ground in the country. Tom Blundell (cricketer)
Thomas Ackland Blundell (born 1 September 1990) is a New Zealand cricketer. He made his international debut for the New Zealand national cricket team in January 2017. He also plays first-class cricket for Wellington.
