2022–23 Boston Celtics Season
The 2022–23 Boston Celtics season was the franchise's 77th season in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Celtics entered the season as the defending Eastern Conference and Atlantic Division champions, with hopes of claiming a record-breaking eighteenth NBA Championship, having lost to the Golden State Warriors in six games in the 2022 NBA Finals the season prior. On September 22, 2022, head coach Ime Udoka was suspended until June 30, 2023, for a violation of the team's code of conduct, following a team investigation into an inappropriate relationship between himself and a female Celtics staff member. As a result, assistant coach Joe Mazzulla was named interim head coach. After a 42–17 start to the season, Mazzulla was named the permanent head coach and signed to a contract extension on February 16, 2023. Joe Mazzulla
Joseph Mazzulla (born June 30, 1988) is an American professional basketball coach who is the head coach for the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Nicknamed "the Psycho", he played college basketball for West Virginia Mountaineers men's basketball, West Virginia University as a point guard. Following his collegiate career as a point guard, Mazzulla went undrafted in the 2011 NBA draft, instead choosing to pursue a career in coaching at the college level, coaching at Glenville State University, Glenville State and Fairmont State University, Fairmont State's basketball programs as an assistant coach for 3 seasons each, before being hired to be an assistant coach for the Maine Red Claws in 2016. Aaron Marquez Miles (born April 13, 1983) is an American basketball coach and former player working as an assistant coach for the New Orleans Pelicans of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Kansas Jayhawks and had a brief stint in the National Basketball Association (NBA) with the Golden State Warriors. DJ MacLeay
David Jess MacLeay (born October 6, 1994) is an American professional basketball coach and former player who is an assistant coach for the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association (NBA). High school career MacLeay grew up in San Antonio and attended Ronald Reagan High School. At Reagan, MacLeay lettered three times each in basketball and track and field. On the basketball team, MacLeay was team captain and earned all-state and all-region honors while on the team. As a senior, MacLeay averaged 16 points and 11 rebounds per game for Reagan High School.
