The 2022–23 season is the 136th season in the existence of Barnsley F.C., Barnsley Football Club and the club's first season back in League One following their relegation from the Championship the 2021–22 Barnsley F.C. season, previous season. In addition to the league, they also competed in the 2022–23 FA Cup, FA Cup, the 2022–23 EFL Cup, EFL Cup and the 2022–23 EFL Trophy, EFL Trophy. Barnsley () is a market town in South Yorkshire, England. It is the main settlement of the Metropolitan Borough of Barnsley and the fourth largest settlement in South Yorkshire. Luca John Connell (born 20 April 2001) is an Irish professional footballer. He plays as a defensive midfielder for side Barnsley. He started his senior career with Bolton Wanderers before moving to Celtic, from whom he spent two loan spells at Queen's Park. James Norwood (born 5 September 1990) is an English professional footballer who plays as a striker for club Oldham Athletic. He started his career with Eastbourne Town, making eighteen senior appearances before signing for Exeter City in July 2009. Nicholas Cadden (born 19 September 1996) is a Scottish professional footballer who plays as a winger for Hibernian.
