2022 WDF World Darts Championship
The 2022 Lakeside WDF World Championship was the first World Professional Darts Championship, World Championship organised by the World Darts Federation (WDF). The tournament was held at the Lakeside Leisure Complex, Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green, Surrey, England, which hosted the now-defunct BDO World Darts Championship from 1986 to 2019. The titles were won by Neil Duff in the men's competition, and Beau Greaves in the women's. The WDF made the decision to postpone the tournament by three months, due to growing concerns and potential government restrictions relating to the COVID-19 pandemic. Neil Duff and Thibault Tricole became the first players from Northern Ireland and France respectively to reach the final of a World Darts Championship. Lakeside Leisure Complex
The Lakeside Leisure Complex is a hotel, conferencing, entertainment and associated leisure complex in Frimley Green in west Surrey, England. It hosted the open/men's and women's BDO World Darts Championship every January from 1986 to 2019. History The complex was established in 1972, when Bob Potter bought Wharfenden House and the surrounding grounds and lake. He soon doubled the hall to 1,000 seats principally for hosting comedians and musicians, including North American and internationally acclaimed acts. Lakeside was almost completely destroyed in a fire in November 1978, but was subsequently rebuilt, reopening in October the following year. During the 25th year of hosting the 2010 BDO World Darts Championship, World Darts Championship, in 2010 the lake had largely iced over by 7 January. High Dart Average
The three-dart average in darts is the average of the total score achieved with each turn of three darts. Averages are the most cited statistics in matches as they give a rough estimate of a player's form. The longer a match lasts, the harder it is to maintain a high average, as low-scoring legs or missed darts when aiming for a double bring the average down. While there have been match averages of over 130 in floor tournaments, the world record only lists televised matches, which are easy to verify. Definition To compute the average score of a dart the total amount of points scored is divided by the number of darts thrown. This is sometimes used and called the one-dart average. The three-dart average then is just that number multiplied by three. Leonard Gates (born November 26, 1970) is an American professional darts player who competes in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC), World Darts Federation (WDF) and World Seniors Darts (WSD) events. In the World Seniors he won three televised titles in 2023; the WSDT Champion of Champions, World Seniors Matchplay and the World Seniors Masters. He was the 2022 PDC North American champion and has won ten titles on the CDC Pro Tour. Gates is currently ranked WDF world number one.
