2021–22 UMass Minutemen Basketball Team
The 2021–22 UMass Minutemen basketball team represented the University of Massachusetts Amherst during the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Minutemen were led by fifth-year head coach Matt McCall and played their home games at the William D. Mullins Memorial Center in Amherst, Massachusetts as members of the Atlantic 10 Conference. They finished the season 15–16, 7–11 in A-10 play to finish in 10th place. They defeated George Washington in the second round of the A-10 tournament before losing to Dayton in the quarterfinals. On March 2, 2022, the school fired head coach Matt McCall. On March 25, the school named former Kansas State and South Carolina head coach Frank Martin the team's new head coach. Matt McCall (basketball)
Matthew Wayne McCall (born December 12, 1981) is an American college basketball coach. He was the head men's basketball coach at the University of Tennessee - Chattanooga and the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass). Coaching career McCall was a student manager at the University of Florida during the 2002–03 season. He was named head manager the following year. After graduating, he continued working with the program, and in 2006 he was named director of basketball operations. In 2008, he was hired as an assistant coach at Florida Atlantic. He held that position until 2011, when he was hired by the University of Florida as an assistant. McCall was hired by Chattanooga in April 2015 after Will Wade left to take the head coaching job at VCU. Tre Mitchell (born September 24, 2000) is an American professional basketball player who last played for Löwen Braunschweig of the Basketball Bundesliga. He played college basketball for the UMass Minutemen, Texas Longhorns, West Virginia Mountaineers, and Kentucky Wildcats. Rice Owls Men's Basketball
The Rice Owls men's basketball program is the intercollegiate men's basketball program of Rice University. The program is classified in the NCAA's Division I, and the team competes in the American Athletic Conference. They previously participated in the Southwest Conference (1914–1996), the Western Athletic Conference (1996–2005), and Conference USA (2005–2023).
