2021–22 Pakistan Premier League
2021–22 Pakistan Premier League (2021–22 PPL) was to be the 62nd season of Pakistani domestic football and the 13th season of the Pakistan Premier League. Each team was scheduled to play every other team twice, for a total of 22 games. The league was not recognised by FIFA, as it was organized by the then PFF President, Ashfaq Hussain Shah, who came to power after forcibly taking control of the PFF office. The tournament was suspended after a few months into the season and then cancelled. Overview On 27 March 2021, the PFF's office was attacked and people inside held hostage by its former controversially elected president, Syed Ashfaq Hussain Shah, and his group, who again came to power after attacking and taking charge of the PFF office. Pakistan Premier League
The Pakistan Premier League (PPL; ) is a Pakistani semi-professional league for men's football clubs. The top tier of the Pakistan football league system, the PPL operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the PFFL B Division. The league has remained inactive since the end of the 2014–15 season. The 2018–19 season was held in between after three years of inactivity, however it was reportedly not recognised by FIFA and AFC, as it was completed under a non-FIFA recognised body a month before the termination of the event. Since inception of the Pakistan Premier League in 2004, four clubs have won the title: Khan Research Laboratories (5) WAPDA (4), Pakistan Army (2) and K-Electric (1). Lyallpur FC
Lyallpur Football Club is a Pakistani professional football club based in Faisalabad, Punjab. History The club was founded in 2010 as University Football Club. After advancing to the second round of the 2010 PFF League club phase, the team finished third in the table behind Muslim FC and Wohaib. The club changed their name to ''Lyallpur FC'' before the start of the 2013–14 Pakistan Premier League after getting promoted from the 2012 PFF League. The club was relegated at the end of the season, finishing 14th in the table. In the 2014–15 Pakistan Football Federation League, the club finished as leader in the group A of the club phase ahead of Huma and Mardan Blue Star. Jinnah Sports Stadium
Jinnah Sports Stadium () is a multi-purpose stadium in Islamabad, Pakistan. It is currently used mostly for football matches and serves as the home venue for the Pakistan national football team. Khan Research Laboratories Ground
The Shoaib Akhtar Stadium, formerly known as Khan Research Laboratories Ground, is a multi-use stadium in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. At first named after Pakistan's nuclear enrichment facility Khan Research Laboratories, it was renamed Shoaib Akhtar Stadium in honour of the tearaway Pakistani fast bowler in March 2021. The stadium can accommodate 8,000 spectators. It is currently used mostly for football matches, on club level by KRL FC of the Pakistan Premier League. Baloch Football Club Quetta is a football club based in Quetta, Pakistan. It last competed in Pakistan Premier League, after gaining promotion from 2020 PFF League. History In 2004, Baloch FC Quetta became one of the founding members of the Pakistan Premier League. The club was relegated at the end of the season after finishing 14th in the table.
