2021–22 Nigeria Professional Football League
The 2021–22 Nigeria Professional Football League was the 51st season of Nigeria's top-flight association football league and the 32nd since attaining professionalism. The season started on 17 December 2021 and was concluded on 17 July 2022. This season saw Shooting Stars S.C., Shooting Stars returning to the top-flight after a four-year hiatus, likewise Niger Tornadoes who won the 2020–21 Nigeria National League, National League play-offs. They were also joined by Remo Stars and Gombe United after securing promotion from the second division. Akwa United were the defending champions. On 25 June 2022, Rivers United won their first league title with 4 matches to spare. Kano Pillars were relegated for the first time in 20 years. This occurred as a result of the team suffering a six point deduction from the league committee and the club's poor form during the season, they were joined by MFM F.C., MFM, Heartland F.C., Heartland and Katsina United F.C., Katsina United. The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) (formerly the Nigeria Professional Football League) is the highest level of club football in Nigerian football league system. The Nigerian Premier League has suffered like many others, from the financial impact and dwindling fortunes since the late 2000s. It is fed into by the Nigeria National League (NNL). Nasarawa United Football Club is a soccer club based in Lafia, Nasarawa, Nigeria. They play in the Nigeria Premier League. History The team was founded in 2003 after the Nasarawa government took over Black Stars FC of Gombe. They joined the Nigerian Premier League in 2004–05. 2022–23 Nigeria Professional Football League
The 2022–23 Nigeria Professional Football League was the 52nd season of Nigeria's top-flight association football league and the 33rd since attaining professionalism. The regular season started on 8 January 2023 and concluded with the playoffs on 11 June 2023. Bendel Insurance, Doma United, Bayelsa United and El-Kanemi Warriors were the four promoted clubs from the 2021–22 Nigeria National League, replacing Kano Pillars, Katsina United, MFM and Heartland. Following Enyimba draw against Rivers United on 11 June at the playoffs, Enyimba secured a record ninth NPFL title at the Onikan Stadium.
