2021–22 National League 2 North
The 2021–22 National League 2 North was the twelfth season (34th overall) of the fourth tier (north) of the English domestic rugby union competitions since the professionalised format of the second division was introduced. Hull were crowned champions on 23 April 2022, when they played their last but one match of the season at home to local rivals Hull Ionians, beating them with a final minute try, 31–29 in front of a crowd of 950. Hull were promoted to National One for the 2022–23 seasom. Owing to the reorganisation of the national leagues, there was no play-off match and Sedgley Park continued to play at this level. Huddersfield (15th) and Harrogate (16th) also continued to play at this level, due to the increase of tier 4 leagues from two to three. National League 2 North
National League 2 North is one of three level four leagues in the English rugby union system and provides semi-professional competition for teams in Northern England. The remainder of England is covered by the two counterpart leagues National League 2 East and National League 2 West. The champion club is promoted to National League 1, National One. Relegation is to either the Regional 1 Midlands, Regional 1 North East or Regional 1 North West, depending on their location. Rotherham Titans are the current champions. Before September 2009, it was known as National Division Three North. From 2009 to 2010 the Rugby Football Union (RFU) expanded the league from fourteen to sixteen teams. Hull RUFC
Hull Rugby Union Football Club is one of two rugby union clubs based in Kingston upon Hull, Hull in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. They currently play in National League 2 North. History The club was formed in 1992 as a result of two clubs – Old Hymerians RUFC and Hull & East Riding RUFC (1989). The club initially played at the Old Hymerians ground at Haworth Park (capacity 1,200) until the 2008–09 season when they moved to their current home; the Ferens Ground located at Chanterlands Avenue. Luctonians
Luctonians Sports Club is an English sports club based in Kingsland, Herefordshire. The rugby union team currently plays in National League 2 West, the fourth tier of the English rugby union system, following their promotion from the Midlands Premier at the end of the 2018–19 season via the play-offs. The club runs four senior sides and a full range of junior sides. Apart from rugby, Luctonians hosts the practice of cricket, golf, cycling, having also a netball, rounders, ladies touch and ladies contact section for women. Ground Luctonians play home games at Mortimer Park on Hereford Road in the village of Kingsland – about 4 miles from the nearest town, Leominster. North Premier
North Premier was a level five league in the English rugby union system, with the fourteen teams drawn from across Northern England. The other leagues at this level were London & South East Premier, Midlands Premier and South West Premier. The RFU reorganised the level five leagues for season 2022–23, with an increase from four to six and reducing the teams in each from fourteen to twelve. The teams in this league now play in either Regional 1 North East or Regional 1 North West. Format The fourteen teams in this league were drawn from across northern England with the champions promoted to National League 2 North and the runner-up going into a play-off with the second placed team from Midlands Premier with the winner also being promoted. The 2019–20 National League 1, known for sponsorship reasons as the SSE National League 1, was the 11th season of the National League 1, third tier of the English rugby union system, since the professionalised format of the second tier RFU Championship was introduced; and was the 33rd season since league rugby began in 1987. Newly promoted Canterbury RFC, Canterbury were the first team to be relegated after losing away to league leaders Richmond F.C., Richmond on 29 February, with six games still to play. Rotherham Rugby Union Football Club, or Rotherham Titans is a rugby union club from Rotherham, South Yorkshire, currently playing in the third tier of the English rugby union league system, following their promotion from the National League 2 North at the end of the 2023–2024 season. Caldy Rugby Club is an England, English rugby union club which play in the RFU Championship, the English rugby union system, second tier of English rugby, following their promotion from National League 1 at the end of 2021–22. Wharfedale ( ) is one of the Yorkshire Dales. It is situated at source in North Yorkshire and then flows into West Yorkshire and forms the upper valley of the River Wharfe. Sheffield Tigers Rugby Football Club is a rugby union team based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England.
