2021–22 Missouri Tigers Men's Basketball Team
The 2021–22 Missouri Tigers men's basketball team represented the University of Missouri in the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season and were led by head coach Cuonzo Martin, who was in his fifth year at Missouri. The team played its home games at Mizzou Arena in Columbia, Missouri as a tenth-year members of the Southeastern Conference. They finished the season 12–21, 5–13 in SEC play to finish in 12th place. They defeated Ole Miss in the first round of the SEC tournament before losing to LSU in the second round. On March 11, 2022, the school fired head coach Cuonzo Martin. On March 22, the school named Cleveland State head coach Dennis Gates the team's new head coach. 2021 SEC Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2021 Southeastern Conference men's basketball tournament was the postseason men's basketball tournament for the Southeastern Conference at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, which took place March 10–14, 2021. Seeds On November 22, 2020, Auburn announced a self-imposed, one year postseason ban due to former assistant coach Chuck Person's involvement in the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball corruption scandal. As a result, the #11 seed in the tournament was awarded a first-round bye, leaving the #12 seed–#13 seed game as the only game to be played on March 10. Teams were seeded by conference record, with a tiebreaker system used to seed teams with identical conference records. Dru Smith (born December 30, 1997) is an American professional basketball player for the Miami Heat of the National Basketball Association (NBA), on a two-way contract with the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the NBA G League.
