2021–22 Midlands Football League
The 2021–22 Midlands Football League was the inaugural season of the Midlands Football League, the sixth tier of the Scottish football league system, Scottish football pyramid system. The season began with nine games on 17 July 2021. Carnoustie Panmure F.C., Carnoustie Panmure became the inaugural league champions, winning their last seventeen games of the season to overhaul East Craigie F.C., East Craigie and ultimately win the league by five points. Teams All 17 teams from the 2020–21 East Premiership#North, 2020–21 East Premiership North joined the league, along with Dundee St James F.C., Dundee St James (formerly Fintry AFC) from the Midlands Amateur Football Association and Letham F.C., Letham from the Perthshire Amateur Football Association. SJFA East Region
The Scottish Junior Football Association, East Region is one of two regions of the SJFA, which currently organises the Midlands Football League, Midlands League and local cup competitions. The SJFA was previously split into six regions, but in 2002 the decision was taken to reform into three to try to ensure more games between the top clubs and hence increase their revenues; at that time the East Region was created by amalgamating the former East Junior Football League, East (Lothians), Fife Junior Football League, Fife and Tayside Junior Football League, Tayside Regions. Lochee United F
Lochee () is an area in the west of Dundee, Scotland. Until the 19th century, it was a separate town, but was eventually surrounded by the expanding Dundee. It is notable for being home to Camperdown Works, which was the largest jute production site in the world. History 'Lochee' originally referred to the area in which weavers' cottages were situated at the burn which flowed through Balgay Lochee; thus, they were at the eye of the loch or Loch E'e, which eventually became Lochee. It is believed this site is close to where Myrekirk stands today. Indeed, John Ainslie's map of 1794 makes reference to 'Locheye' on the north and south banks of the burn. However, G. Taylor and A. Skinner's 'Survey and maps of the roads of North Britain or Scotland' in 1776 makes reference to 'Lochee'. 2020–21 East Premiership
The 2020–21 East Premiership (known as the McBookie.com East Premiership for sponsorship reasons) was the 19th season of league competition for SJFA East Region member clubs. This was effectively a continuation of the East Superleague but with fewer member clubs in the East Region all teams were in a single tier with no promotion or relegation. Tayport, also known as Ferry-Port-on-Craig, is a town in Fife, Scotland. It lies on the Firth of Tay opposite Broughty Ferry, a suburb of Dundee. The two were linked by a ferry service until 1939. Brechin (; ) is a town and former royal burgh in Angus, Scotland. Arbroath () or Aberbrothock ( ) is a former royal burgh and the largest town in the council area of Angus, Scotland, with a population of 23,902.
