The 2021 Liga 2 was the fifth season of the Liga 2 under its current name and the 12th season under its current league structure. Persis won the title after a 2–1 win over RANS Cilegon in the final at Pakansari Stadium, Cibinong on 30 December 2021. Effects of the COVID-19 pandemic Cancellation of the 2020 season The season was suspended on 15 March 2020 after finishing the matchday one due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The initial suspension was until the end of March, which was then extended to 29 May. On 27 June 2020, PSSI issued a decree to continue Liga 1,Liga 2 & Liga 3 from October 2020. The 2019 Liga 1, also known as Shopee Liga 1 for sponsorship reasons, was the 3th season of Liga 1 under its current name and the 10th season of the top-flight Indonesian professional league for association football clubs since its establishment in 2008. The season started on 15 May 2019 and finished on 22 December 2019. Fixtures for the 2019 season were announced on 7 May 2019. Persija were the defending champions. PSS, Semen Padang, and Kalteng Putra joined as the promoted teams from the 2018 Liga 2. They replace Mitra Kukar, Sriwijaya, and PSMS who were relegated to the 2019 Liga 2. Stadion Pakansari is an all-seater stadium at Pakansari, Cibinong, Bogor, West Java in Indonesia. It is mostly used for football matches and is the home stadium of Persikabo 1973. The 2020 Liga 2 was the fourth season of the Liga 2 under its current name and the 11th season under its current league structure. The season was suspended on 27 March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The season was abandoned and was declared void on 20 January 2021.
